    Yeah, dammit, I had a brain freeze on the TT w/PCCBs.

    Main point is, despite diameter difference, Porsche is supporting use of 996 C4S spare on 997 cars. Would be nice to get confirmation for use on TT; though you'd think if it's okay for a 997 C4S it'll be okay for TT (without PCCBs of course).

    Thanks for the liner idea! Would be a nice little installation project and give peace of mind for keeping our aluminum hoods perfect; all it takes is one miscalculation with placement of the wife's retail items up there.

    Got some info from Sunset Imports: The spare tire they have, part number 99636202003, is recommended for 997. They do NOT know if it is recommended for 997 Turbo.

    As mentioned, this tire will fit 997 Turbo without PCCB, however if you plan to do this be careful & make sure that the differential doesn't get damaged in the process (I don't know whether it would).

    I called my sales guy and he said he'd get me a Turbo-specific answer. Geez..., maybe you guys should do the same so we can compare notes.

    Now for some totally uninformed amateur reasoning the spare HAS been recommended for 997 cars. I who waste hours on P-car boards have not heard of any prohibition of it's use on a 997 C_4_. Yes, Turbo is different car but not that different from the C4 drivetrain-wise. Nevertheless, I guess we'll all have to wait for an official answer.

    Thanks. You are always very helpful.
    Of note, AFAIK, the 997 C4S has a *different* center differential design from the Turbo. I don't know, but this might have some influence on tolerance for smaller tire at one of the wheel positions.
