Na Mezger:The kids reaction was so honest and heartwarming really cool
ps what happ to the M4 in the drag, did he bog down and toast the launch surely the gap is not that wide ??
Difference between a $150K sports car and a $75K sedan that happened to lose two doors.
M cars have seriously come down in image/performance compared to the "real" sports cars. I honestly don't really even consider an M car a sports cars anymore. Just doesn't have that image anymore IMO. They strike me as a more powerful trim for commuting.
I remember when the M3 with DCT was testing against the V8 R8, which in turn was testing against the 997 GT3. Those cars moved way up market and performance while the M3 hasn't.
Na Mezger:
I was at the ring when these guys were testing ( doing the same event ) . I did have that GTS in my rear mirror , on my tail and let him through , and then could not keep up for too long ( unless I was up to take unwanted risks )
I noticed specially the difference on exit turns, as the torque of the GTS was definitely an advantage .
The GTS can be very fast !

I may get a 991.2 C2 GTS Cab soon for 12 months...dealer wants my 991.1 for a client and offered the same lease rate without any down payment, I just drop my car and pick up the new one (car is in stock, basically same color/options as mine, plus rear wheel steering). Since my wife decided not to buy the 991.1 GTS and get a C63 instead, I am very tempted to do this deal.
Will know more soon, after we checked out if my current winter wheels fit the 991.2. If not, well...I think I am going to pass. A winter wheel set is around 7k EUR, not worth it for a year.

Say hello to my new(?) ride... 991.2 Carrera GTS Convertible.
Car has basically the same color/interior and options like my current 991.1 C4 GTS Convertible.
Only the rear wheel steering is new.
Good thing: Nobody will notice that this is a new car.
Bad thing: My wife isn't too happy because she was hoping to get her C63 S AMG Convertible by May 2018.
Reason why I did it? Dealer offered this car for a 12 months lease for the same money I pay for my current 991.1 GTS now. No down payment. Amazing offer, he did a similar thing with that Cayenne S Diesel my wife has.
Unfortunately my 991.1 GTS winter wheels (over 7k for the set) don't fit the new 991.2 GTS but dealer found a simple solution: He puts me new winter tires on the summer rims and when spring comes, he puts me new summer tires on the same rims. Free of cost.
Reasons why dealer does it? New 992 is coming next year, they ordered too many GTS 2WD and demand is mainly for AWD version (C4), they need more sales/leases this year (has something to do with a bonus program) and finally, my dealer has a customer who is interested in my n/a engine 991.1 GTS. Perfect combo.
We postponed my wife's C63 S AMG Convertible to an Oct. 2018 delivery and here is the good news about it: The C class convertible facelift happens in July 2018. Meaning: My wife gets the facelifted C63 S AMG with a slightly new look (Panamericana grille is rumored), new interior with digital(!) dashboard and...more power (rumored are 520-530 hp).
I am quite happy about this "constellation" because I get to drive the latest 911 Cab for 12 months, brand-new and my wife gets the facelifted C63 Cab.

bobr:Congratulations and enjoy your new GTS..I continue to love my 991.1 GTS. Looking forward to your review.
I'm not getting the 991.2 GTS because I was unhappy with the 991.1 GTS. Loved the car but it had to go anyway in April 2018 because my wife decided not to buy it (she wanted to get it for herself once the lease ends) for various reasons (too expensive, remaining value was huge and she already fell in love with the C63 S AMG convertible because of the fully sized rear seats, good for the kids and her friends).
I was supposed to keep the 991.1 GTS until April 2018 but with the C63 delay and the dealer offer, this is great for me because I get to have a new car, even if it is only for 12 months (initial offer was actually 18 months but this was too long for me, so dealer backed off).
The car (991.2 GTS Cab) at my dealer is perfect, looks the same as mine (991.1), so people probably won't notice that I got a new car.
Only thing holding me back from taking this fantastic deal was the fact that my winter wheels don't fit on the new car but dealer was generous/resourceful and found a solution.

Enzo II:Such a great deal, congrats.
Yes, indeed, it is.
Requested also a quote for a 991.2 C4 GTS Convertible, they have one in their second dealership and this one required a 28k(!) EUR down payment. Ouch.
I had to ask a couple of times if I understood the deal well because I couldn't believe it myself.
A huge "advantage" for the dealer is probably the value of my current car (991.1 C4 GTS Cab), he can sell it for over 130k (new price was 163k or so over two years ago). GTS models haven't really tanked in value, Carrera S is a different story (huge depreciation).
In the end however, I don't know why and how the dealer offers this but they did a similar thing with the Cayenne S Diesel, so I guess this is somehow common practice.

AP911:Such a great dealer
Yes but to be honest, I think other dealers offer similar stuff to their longtime customers as well. No dealer has anything to give away for free, so there is always an "ulterior" motive behind it.

Italo:very nice deal mate, but what beats me is why the guy didn't go for the 991.2 GTS instead of yours was it the sound or the whole package ?
I only know that he has someone who is interested in my car but I do not know if this is the reason the dealer offered me the deal. The 991.2 costs 169k EUR (with the usual 11% discount, there is still a 20k price difference, my old car has AWD and that well known last Carrera n/a engine), also the new 992 is coming, so the 991.2 will loose value as soon as the new one shows up next year. Just a wild guess...I don't have a clue why I got this offer but like I said before, I think it is common practice in certain situations (end of the year, new model coming, car doesn't sell well, etc.) because the same happened with that Cayenne S Diesel last year.
Another possibility could be the fact that the dealer showroom car has the GTS Alcantara package and most customers prefer the leather package instead. I love Alcantara, so perfect...for me.
With the 992 arriving next year, I assume "good deals" will be available everywhere around the world, so maybe worth asking.

jamesdamanuk1:11% discount! Jesus here in the Uk you are lucky to get a free coffee mug!
This is the usual stuff for good customers...
Got 10% on a new Cayenne Turbo but unfortunately I cannot afford it (lease cost is too high).
Don't get me wrong: If you want a GT2 RS or a GT3 RS, best discount you can hope for are 3%, if any (GT2 RS).
