    This month's EVO cover

I know the content and result has been discussed in the other thread, but here's the official info about the issue and the beautiful cover.
Am I going to buy this? Oh yes....

This is quite possibly 2007's most important group test. Of course, you think you know which one wins already, don't you? This is good old, rear-engined evo after all. Well, the victor certainly comes from a company with great standing at Le Mans. And yes, it's a German manufacturer on top of the podium. It's got four-wheel drive too. All of which means it's probably not the Aston...

    Re: This month's EVO cover

    Cool! Prius vs Panda!

    Re: This month's EVO cover

    yeah

    Re: This month's EVO cover

I wont comment on the which one is the best sport car, but i am sure Porsche 911 is the SOLID one in all of 4.

M6 yeah faster on straight line but same looks of 630 in both exterior(m package) and interior issues

911 maybe a retro looking but i think it is the most determined one

R8 yeah it will take attention of streets but after a year or two, people will accept it is a big TT and become old looking(as like all audis after 2 years)

Dont be fooled by LED lightined glass engine bonnet or exhaust note of R8... Audi needs something to enter its car in the sport car market , which refers UEFA Champions League. Still it is a 1600kg car and has 330AWHP on the wheels

I ve driven several Audis(join test drive including (A8,S8,S4, old RS6) and still driving two audis both quattro i know their character.Yes generally boring in all audi you feel like you have two kids sitting at the back and you are going on a holiday trip.(a little exaggerating )

Yes i'd take Aston Martin, doesnt matter if it goes slower than these three, its souund and elite design is sufficient for me...

Most exclusive one is Aston for me, after Aston Porsche comes. The others are good cars but not pure sport car companies....

    Just my 2 cents

    Caghan,
I do not agree here with you at all.
IMHO R8 is a true sportscar...

    Problem is IMHO in DENIAL...

    Re: This month's EVO cover

    Kreso,

I understand, i am not saying R8 is a bad car. But Audi wants to make R8 jump in the first place of sport car market. I think that is the problem. First comparison made with F430 then Gallardo then maybe Turbo....

Also if it has the same feeling of S4, RS6 or S8 i can say it wont be much sportier than these except the looks. When i say it is like a you have kids at the i was exaggrating as i mentioned.

I think the time would show us if R8 better than 911 or not. But my vote is with Porsche despite its retro looks(to me) it is determined car, even than Lamborghini and Ferrari

There is no way that you can compare the "Feeling" of the R8 with Audi's current offerings (Sa, RS4, RS6, S4, etc.) The R8 is ABOVE AND BEYOND any other current Audi. Based on this comparison and various others, the R8 is the dominant sports car in its market segment.

Also, even with a bulky power to weight ratio, 420 hp, etc. The numbers this Car is posting is Rivaling cars costing over double its price. I would say in your case, please drive one and give us your impressions.

    Re: This month's EVO cover

Do u drive any of these btw.

If you not agree, just not agree ok it is enough to tell

If audi dealer call me for test drive of R8 i would g;ad to tell you the impressions, dont worry

    Re: This month's EVO cover

    EVO sucks, they hate Astons..

    Re: This month's EVO cover

Take the 911 for the whole package or take the AMV8 for the sexy look...

    Forget R8 and M6...

    Re: This month's EVO cover

I don't think they hate Astons, they hold them pretty high.

    Re: This month's EVO cover

The problem with Astons is that their major apeal is their looks. Their performance is simply lacking in almost any comparison test. Its no wonder they lose out to faster more nimble cars when being tested by sportscar magazines. If Robb Report did the same test I bet the Aston would fare better.

    Re: This month's EVO cover

I agree with trip. I recently test drove an AmV8 at the vegas Porsche/Aston/any overpriced car you can imagine dealer due to the fact that on a two thousand mile road trip from california to colorado and back, I got :

    A. three flat tires. ( I realize not porsche's fault, but come on I had never had a flat in my life before, and after driving 280 miles on a 996 temporary at 50 mph because porsche couldn't get me in the middle of utah, I was slightly pissed)

    B. complete electronic failure for no reason

    C. I came out to my parents driveway in Colorado in the morning to find that my windows had rolled themselves down and it had been raining for an hour.

Needless to say that by the time I got to Vegas to get a new tire put on after hours of excruciatingly boring driving and fearing for my life as semi trucks barreled past my tiny sports car, I was angry. Thus I drove the aston. Nice sound, I mean nice sound. Completely fabricated by technoloogy. I mean really. That much sound, and not that much go. I was dissappointed. Not as much fun as the 997. This is only my opinion, and I know it might anger some of you, but that's how I felt. In the 997 when I shift up at redline I feel like i'm at Le Mans. I know where I am with this car at all times. More time in the aston might change my mind, but I doubt it.

The aston is Achingly beautiful, but when I got back in the P-car and flew down the 15 with my hair on fire, I fell in love with the Porsche all over again.

Yeah, and then when you look at the Porker, you completely forget your love by the car, and just wish you still had the Aston...
