    thanks CR for giving me the tip to unplug the secret illegal switch in the engine area for louder sound) ! The 997 GT3 feels like a real Porsche that it should be! I can't be more satisfied with it.

    With reference to the above forum can anybody tell me more about the location of this switch please ????

    When I read that 'secret' on the "Factory P/up & Driving Thread", the only thing that crossed my mind was disabling the exhaust gas butterflies. Maybe by disconnecting this 'secret' plug harness, your essentially cutting off power to keep the valve closed. this is the only conclusion I have since he mentioned that it's 'louder' all the time

    It's not a secret - I've seen reference to it in a post (sorry - don't have the link) and there was even a picture showing which plug to disconnect. Try searching some of the other 997 boards.

    Print out a copy of the pic from the link and take it out to your car and compare. If you decide to do it it takes a couple of minutes to find it and unplug.

    It does seem boomy as stated on other thread. I'm sure the dB are great if you're working on your hearing loss

    Probably the same at idle. With it disconnected it is much louder under throttle. The sound is kind of boomy/bassy and it seems like a lot of people reconnect because it's a bit irritating around town.

    I agree with CrfCity, I reconnected mine after a few days because of the resonance. All that really matter is wot. It's nice to keep it manageable around town and below 3K.
