Re: I went shopping for a 993 Turbo yesterday...

    Thanks all,

AndyM: You should take a quick jaunt down to Sloancars yourself at least once in your life.
    Tom: Listed for $185,000.00.
MikeS: There must be some good examples with RHD floating around the English speaking world.
Porker: Yes, I believe USA regs. on ride height dictate that setup-and that IS one of the first I would change.
SoCalHoosier: To me, the entire 993TT body was the 911Turbo at its pinnacle-although that black/black 964TS Package Car was quite the package, as well.
Grant: I know Carnewal can import the 993TT Euro nose to color. Any good domestic sources for that (and other) 993 parts? Things like short shift kits, interior pieces?
Jamesaug: Thanks much. That visit was well worth it.

    Al

Wow - I didn't realize that you can get the bumpers pre-painted. I think that's still a risk with a 10-year old car that it will match exactly. Better to have a top-notch shop spray it to match the car.

Sunset Imports in Oregon sells all the Porsche parts at wholesale plus 10%, I think...

Re: I went shopping for a 993 Turbo yesterday...

I too was unaware that you could obtain bumpers pre-painted.

Perhaps with the 993 generation the factory stocked these? But their inventory must have been long depleted...

I trust carnewal though, they are definitely one of the best.

Re: I went shopping for a 993 Turbo yesterday...

many thanks...great photos...993 turbo, best looking porsche of all time in my opinion.

...And I pulled the trigger on this one

    Pick-up is this Saturday!

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

One of the advantages of pre-owned: No break-in needed.

This summer I'll change the tires, suspension, make some interior and exterior tweaks (clear turn signal markers, CF shifter and handbrake, CF door handles and dash pieces), and get ready for sending her to Protomotive next winter for the power upgrade.

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

CONGRATS! A black 993TT is to me def. among the top 3 most desirable cars on the planet. Simply a classic as much as a 964RS and it's value it rock-stable too.
BTW: did I missed yr GIAC 700 first experience report ?

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

Beautiful car. I love the 993 design in particular the TT .

    Excellent choice.

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

Nice Al! I knew you were going to take that one when I saw the pics

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

    nice! congrats!

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

Very nice ,love it ! Gongrats !

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

OK, so after saturday we receive tons of pics of a nice black 993 tt... can't wait!
    -Joost-

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

    Thanks all,

Yes, more pics of black TT's next week-black twin turbo's (996TSCab and 993TT).

And BjoernB, eventually when I have the time (and figure out how to do it ), I'll come up with video/audio and more formal review of the GT700-here's a summary-awwwesome!

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

I've been on a couple of spirited group rides with a navy blue one. It hah had some engine work. It sounded and looked nice.

    Congratulations, Al!

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

turbo al, we need photos (more) and some videos...

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

It's funny how a new 997 turbo owner can draw less attention on this forum than a 993TT owner can.

It tells you how much new porsches didn't manage to keep the porsche's spirit or are soul less if you wish.

Congrats on your purchase. The 993TT is my favourite porsche of them all. I even prefer it's design over the TTS wich looks too busy IMO.

Congrats Your TT looks like a new one. What year is it? How many miles?

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

    Thanks again,

Racerx: Mine will get engine "work" also-for more power-but not until this winter.

Grant: I'm like a kid in a candy store-my tuned Noble (600RWHP) finally comes back from Florida next week too!

Paul Rangel Melo: I promise more pics (and hopefully vid).

Amazon: The 993TT with its classic lines definitely makes my heart skip a beat-although I am still on my dealer's list for a 997TT(S)-man, this is an expensive hobby.

1997, about 20K, looked and drove nice and clean.

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

Al, what will the cumulative hp be in your garage after all mods are done?

Congrats on the TT by the way. You really should get a ratty 850 Mini to drive to work, just to keep some accelleration perspective.

2,650 HP for the 996TSCab, 993TT, RS4 and Noble. And those are just my contributions to the family's stable.

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

Congratulations on a very clean example of a great car

When you do get the 997 TTS as well, a writeup between three generation Turbo's would be welcomed to say the least

    Thanks Elysium,

In the next few weeks, I'll make the initial tweaks to the car-clear turn signal assembly, clear "Turbo S" front air scoop/fog light assembly, Euro Turbo M030 springs/Bilstein HD shocks to lower the car, CF/cashmere leather shifter and handbrake, aluminum pedals for better feel, CF/black leather 3-spoke steering wheel ala my 996TSCab, CF door handles and handbrake tray-before the power upgrade to 3.8L/700horses this winter.

I DO intend to do a nice review of the three turbo's (993/996/997), once I get the 997TT(?S). You must be a mind-reader.

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

Fantastic car! Enjoy and welcome to the 993 club... we should get our own board!

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

your cars make the 996 look like a major ugly duckling.

    Highly recommended...

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

    Cool Grant,

I plan to do the same with mine.

    993Targa,

Agree on the desire for a 993 Board (all variants). Maybe RC will take us up on it.

Yes, I did the same look at the picture posted in my previous message

Re: ...And I pulled the trigger on this one

Very nice choice Al! I owned a black 1997 911 Turbo for four years and loved it. In terms of the most enjoyable aspect of ownership, it was a close call between the car's beautiful lines and the driving experience. You have nearly limitless options for customizing the interior and exterior, including mats, gearknobs, steering wheels, wheels, exhaust, etc.

After the mods, it will be interesting to see which car keys you grab most often among your stable.

A couple pics and a link to my old car, plus some mag articles on the 993TT I scanned...

Again, congrats on a fine choice.
