IPOD

Not sure if the forum has heard this as I havent been online for a while.

Just thought I would pass on the latest in from Germany on this new thread.

Porsche have got Bang and Olufsen to build a direct direct cable connection for an IPod to integrate with the PCM.

This will be a genuine part and is expected for release September 2007.
I do not know much more, so you if you have any detailed queries, you might want to direct them directly to your dealer.

Have I read this before somewhere? I mean that Porsche is going to provide an IPOD hookup??

Hmmm very interesting - wonder how it will compare to the denison 500?

Also I wonder if it will be available to retrofit or only to order on new cars?

Amazing, but a couple of issues are raised here. For example why Bang and Olufsen instead of Apple directly? It's weird isn't it. Again, not only we need just a cable, there are quite a lot of other things epsecially if retrofit is considered, such as holder, PCM software upgrade, interface, buttons (soft or hard) in the console facade, etc.

Seems as this info isn't reliable but we shall see anyway!

I agree function_analysi. If it's just a 'cable', where would it plug into? You need a box which connects into the MOST bus where the 6 CD auto changer would normally connect.

Given how bad most Porsche dealers have been at giving reliable information on this eagerly awaited issue, I'm not holding my breath. I think I'll get more reliable information from my local Bang & Olufsen retail store...?

... and why B&O? If you look on the back of almost all of their consumer electronics you'll see the LG brand ... B&O doesn't seem to actually make very much. So why would Porsche go through a middle man to get something which will ultimately be branded Porsche to support Apple?

A cable--that's the first clue that this is a red herring.

I've got the Gateway 500 from Dension, and it's a tad buggy. So it sure would be nice if Porsche would do an OEM interface but it darn sure will be more than a cable

Hey guys, I dont know what guise the interface will be but it was a news that i thought should be known as so many people seem to want an ipod in their P car.

Lets wait and see in September if my info is right!
