    Retrofit Porsche Sports Exhaust (UK)

    I'm really tempted by this as we enter the summer months, since I feel that top down, the exhaust tone is rather uninspiring.

    Looking to have this performed as cost effectively (i.e. near to factory Pounds1k) as possible, which I believe can be achieved with some increased buying power.

    Any other owners interested, ideally south-England based?

    Speak to Simon, the Tequipment Manager, at OPC Mid-Sussex (in Burgess Hill, north of Brighton); you'll not get a better deal - trust me!

    Interested. As a price guide my OPC has quoted me Pounds1,500 to supply and retro-fit.

    From the few reports i've read there are mixed reactions to the PSE - both on Cayman and Boxster. At times its little different, and at others its claimed to be too noisey for long high speed drives. My standard exhaust is much louder now than it was 14k miles again and i certainly don;t want anything louder.

    My 3.2 Boxster S is at the dealer today to get PSE installed. Will give you a sound report later today or tomorrow

    Thats interesting ..... I was thinking of going for an always on install, only dropping down to switchable+DME controlled if it was too noisy for m-way.

    I was under the impression that there is no such thing as PSE for the 3.2 engine (only for 3.4)
    Any info about your PSE installation is highly appreciated

    Okay, good news or bad news first?

    Lets start with good... PSE is installed, on a 987 3.2l Boxster S from 2005. Quiet mode has got a much deeper tone than stock and a proper flat-six growl when on low rev. Especially noticed when driving out of the garage. Verrry nice! A big difference to the 997 PSE quiet mode, which just... quiet!

    ...bad news is Porsche managed to send the wrong cable for the dashboard switch, meaning I cannot switch on the PSE loud mode...doh! Once it arrives the dealer will also install a second switch for disabling the infamous cut-off between 50-80km/h.

    Unfortunately it is not so easy to mod as on the 997, since I cannot reach the vacuum hose in the closed engine compartment. Thus... I have to wait for the stupid cable

    What a shame they didn't leave it activated until then!!

    I asked, but the mechanic said that was not possible to do. I did not understand why and I did not feel for arguing with him. After all, it was not his fault.

    Delbox, Midsussex wrote to me last month to have sports exhaust installed on my 2.7 about Pounds1900 ouch !!! but if sports crono fitted it would be about Pounds1500. Maybe Simon did you a special price but the letter they sent me seemed expensive.

    I know that Simon will better any OPC deal offered elsewhere; it's worth visiting to talk face-to-face, as Simon is very helpful.

    Thought I'd comment on PSE, since I've been living with it for a week or so now - all be it on a Cayman.

    - Best thing is how P have engineered the overall sound, so that the engine is not drowned out across the entire rev range by the exhaust.

    - Least impressive is the overall increase in dB's.

    For a non-switchable system, this would be a very safe friendly option, however, for a switchable setup, when I press the loud button, I want NOISE!!!!

    My install will be complete first week in June. For now it is still in quiet mode, but a lot louder than stock. Especially if you floor it in a tunnel or underpass, sounds great.

    As soon as I have the button and cut-off eliminated I will give a full report.

    does anyone know what the 2.7L version of the PSE looks like??

    It uses the standard tip. There is no special tip for the 987 PSE.
