    Standard Homelink in 05?

    Simple question.

Was Homelink standard on the 997 when first introduced in the US?

My car has the buttons but they do not work. I used to think that it was a malfunction (easier to use the standard opener anyway) but after careful review of the window sticker - which list everything but the air in the tires - I did not see Homelink listed. Is it possible that my car simply did not include that function (except for the buttons)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,

    Re: Standard Homelink in 05?

I think it was standard. I didn't pay for mine, and it works flawlessly. I hate clipping ugly openers to my visor...

It definitely wasn't (what means still isn't ) standard, but that thing doesn't work anyway...

(guess all my doors are way too ancient )

    Re: Standard Homelink in 05?

Well then, it came with the memory seats, or something, because it is not broken-out on my window sticker or my order-spec-sheet...

I have an early 2005 U.S. 997S (#337) and it has Home Link. It functions perfectly if 'programmed' correctly. I suggest reading and following the Owner's Manual regarding set up.

    Good Luck

    Re: Standard Homelink in 05?

Home Link was standard for the USA Models.

    Re: Standard Homelink in 05?

Not a programming issue at all. After pressing the two outer buttons the light emitting diode never flashes (even after more than 20 seconds).
Thanks anyway though, I can see how the instructions may seem complicated to some - not me.

BTW - mine is #459 - strange that it is not listed on the Window sticker.

    Re: Standard Homelink in 05?

It was indeed standard in the U.S., that's why it's not on your window sticker....

    Re: Standard Homelink in 05?

It sounds like you have followed the instructions, however permit me to ask a stupid question. Have you pressed those two buttons while the ignition is on?

If so and it still hasn't work, then check with your dealer on getting it fixed.

    Re: Standard Homelink in 05?

Mine was a Sept 04 build and it was standard. How time flys, its almost three years old!

One of the few cars made where Homelink only works with ignition on...so either you key isn't on or there's some other reason it isn't getting power.

    BINGO!

    Re: Standard Homelink in 05?

i remember the original spec sheet for the 997 had homelink listed as an option for the US (option code 608). but at some point they decided that all US 997's would come with it standard

I think you are correct. Mine was one of the black 'Launch Cars' - with options specified by Porsche in advance (love the PCCB) except the Homelink. Dealer just confirmed this. Anyone else out there with a 'Launch Car'?

I've got one of the Black/Black Launch Cars (#337). It has Home Link; no mention of it on the Option List. I too wondered when I bought the car since I read somewhere that it was optional. I guess PCNA decided for the US market to make Home Link standard. I believe European delivered 997's don't have it.
