    Is 997 your daily drive?

Curious to know if your 997 is your daily drive? Meaning do you drive the car most often good/bad weather or only on sunny days and/or weekends? Thanks!

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

Hey there C2spin. Actually if you check the archives I polled pretty much the same thing sometime last year. Results were about 50/50 and those who had another daily driver listed what it was. My 997C2 has not been my daily driver, but will be late next month(after mt lease on my SUV ends). I'm moving to California later this year and my 997C2 will be my only vehicle..

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

Yes, but this will be the final year of doing so. I don't mind driving it through the summer but the winter months are just too hard on the car.

The percentages shown (at least on my browser - about 44% say yes and only 17% say no regarding the "daily driver" question) don't add up to 100%, only 61%, so something appears to be wrong with the survey calculator.

I never intended mine to be a daily driver. I always figured it was like buying a sail boat, only I prefer a great sports car to the sail boat.

the 44 & 17 are votes not %...get your coffee

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

So far, I see the 'ayes' are at 69% and the 'noes' are at 31%. This is a very heartening statistic for a sports car!

Then the graphic shouldn't say "%" behind the vote nor should it give fractions of a percent of the vote. The vote total listed should state that the numbers are votes and not percentages.

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

I would drive mine daily but if I get a drop of rain on it my car might melt.

Just kidding, I drive mine whenever I feel like it. Not sure why one would spend all this money just to keep the car in the garage.

What fractions? It shows the vote count then the percentage.

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

Yes. Almost everyday 50 miles commute except during snow and some times when I just feel like using my suv instead for a change. Also minus the days I ride one of my motorcycles.

The : "No - Weekend or few (nice) days per week" is how I use my F430.

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

    997 GT3 track only

    I stand corrected.

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

Every day, 50km to and from work. Rain, Hail, Shine and loving it!
"The most expensive toy is the one which just sit's there".

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

I drive mine to work and back 5-6 times a week. It's the perfect therapy prior to and after a long work day. Also, even though I live and work in Southern California, the traffic is not that bad for me. Rarely is it stop and go traffic in my area.

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

Unfortunately, my 'commute' is all of 4 miles between the house and the office. As such, it is hard to justify hardly warming up the oil in such a distance. As a result, I choose one of my other cars to do the dirty work of taking me to the office,--or I ride my bike!

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

Not exclusively daily; commute is 45 miles r/t and I have 7,500 miles afetr 6 months.

Re: Is 997 your daily drive?

Mine's an occassional... The perceived downside of not enjoying the car daily is equally counteracted by the upside of not getting "bored" with the car and enjoying it that much more when I am wheeling it.

I've gotta have variety. I could never drive one car, every day, and not want to punt it off a cliff after 6 months. It could be ANYTHING, I don't care what you toss at me. So I sprinkle in drives in some collectibles, use my truck when I know the kids need carting, or the trip to Lowe's after work needs done, or when the weather looks ugly (there's no fun nor safety in driving fast in the rain), and then the 997 fills in the remaining gaps. In all, I'm one happy driver who's not sick of his car and visiting the Porsche dealer every-other week pondering a new purchase just to get to greener grass...
