My baby is still being built - but getting complex

My baby is still getting built (C2) and it is not even an "S", but the pictures of the GT3s on this forum makes me feel as if I should see one driving home every day from work. Maybe my babie will be referred to as a "premie". I know there are not a lot of these cars (GT3) around, but it seems like there are a jizillion of em out there (in the forum). Talk about giving me an inferiority complex!

Damn they sure look great. Maybe if I decide to get another Porsche down the road......

However, even though I am getting just a C2, (listen to me "just a C2", most people would die for a used Porsche). I can hardly wait... Salesman says, "Car is in Body Shop. Next step is paint and then the assembly line. Should be complete at the beginning of next week. "

Please refrain from using the words "just a C2" as it creates an inferiority complex for those who waited years for their first one....

As originally a browser, then serious buyer, then depositor, then waiter....I know first hand what you are going thru. It just makes it well worth the wait upon delivery....

Congratulations from one "just a C2" owner to another "just a C2" owner!

Actually I debated a fair amount between a C2 and a C2S. In the end I chose C2 because, heck, I must be getting old. The ride of the C2 (with 19" wheels) seems just a bit softer then the C2S (obviously w/ 19" wheels and the PASM).

Enjoy your C2. Remind yourself periodically that there are people who dream their entire lives to own a sports car like ours yet I doubt their dreams are only of a C2S!

Please never say "just a C2". You're getting a PORSCHE!!! You are extremely lucky compared to all those people who will never even get to sit in one let alone own one.

You are buying IMO the finest everyday use sportscar money can buy. As my mom says, "Don't set fire to your own home just because you've seen somebody else's palace".

I felt the same way while I was waiting for my just targa4s, I thought - a turbo would be better and just 15k more expensive... now since I got it, I am ok

I bought 3 second hand porsches before i could afford a new 997S cabrio;
I enjoyed them maybe even more, for the first one made my p-dream come true!
Never say "just c2" or so.
Howerver we are a lot on this forum (it seems a lot), we are still the happy few imho.

no such thing just a C2 they are all 911's just different options/features !

forget about price/name what features/options in other versions do you feel you need/like?

you may not find one

Either way you are getting a great car. I considered my first real car purschase was a 2004 E46 cabriolet (optioned out with everything) a good car but it's not a porsche. C2 is a great car. Believe it or not, I live here in Orange County California and I rarely see 997 porsches. They are definitely not a dime a dozen. Its weird, but anytime I see another porsche there is always of feeling of excitement, because they know what I know, and that is they got a great car. By the way what is your color combo? Some people are old school, but you should should consider aftermarket wheels. I am not to fond of the stock wheels on the porsches. The wheels really does make the car. Especially porsches, where there are some many great looking options.

No such thing as 'just a C2' or 'just a Boxster', although maybe 'just a Cheyanne' ;-). All outstanding vehicles.

Premie is built. Awaiting ship to transport her to US. Port of entry: Houston, Texas. I hope it doesn't come back smelling like Cow S**T.

You know, for practically every car you can attach the 'just an xxxxx'. GT3 to a GT2. C4S to a TT. Ferrari 360 to a 430 to a 599.

There's always something more badass out there. No worries, you'll be happy with your C2. These 997 cars are fantastic. Heck, I fall on the purist side and would never consider a cab. But driving one the other day I was thinking "I really like this".

Same thing with the Coxster I drove for a few days. Great car even though it's just a hardtop boxster.

You will love it-----I have a C2, and preferred it for very good reasons. Thoughts:
* Paul Friere, the great sports car driver and critic, drove both and said he would take the C2...... very modest performance difference, a blink of an eye in absolute time--
* Many in the UK mags (testers and owners) prefer the non-PASM and basic suspension for predicatbility, handling and ride (actually 18in wheels/tires are nicer than 19in due to compliance in the tires).
* PASM is placed on a sports supension that is harsher in secondary-ride, PASM or not, to the steel you will have----
* Who needs those outrageously bright headlights---their cost is ridiculous!
* The 3.6 spins very smoothly, and some find it a sweeter engine.............
