    Four door Porsche

    Stretch a 997, add suicide rear doors?

    Sure, no headroom in the rear and I'm sure it wouldn't do chassis rigidity much good - but can you imagine how much more useful it would be ?

    You're on to something. Didn't the 996 look a lot like a shortened 989?

    Keep going with those optiks and you will have a updated 70's Tatra V8.

    I think the 989 prototype looks great! A lot nicer than the panamera spy shots I've seen ao far.

    wow you have got to be kidding. a 4 door 911, where is that barfing smiley?

    All Porsche would need for a design dept. would be less than bright 10 year old with photoshop.

    I didn't remember how close to the original 996 the 989 was... And I'm amused to see that the prototype already had the door handle design that would be later used on the 997 and that is considered "in fashion" today (all these years before the 996 which had, by today's standards, "old-style" door handles.

    I guess I sound like an anorak but I love noticing little details like that...

    I dunno. The 911s USP is the rear engined layout, no?
    Why does anyone buy a 911 rather than a Cayman? Occasional rear seats and a (now, I think) unique rear engined layout.
    So why not a diffusion line?
