I didn't remember how close to the original 996 the 989 was... And I'm amused to see that the prototype already had the door handle design that would be later used on the 997 and that is considered "in fashion" today (all these years before the 996 which had, by today's standards, "old-style" door handles.
I guess I sound like an anorak but I love noticing little details like that...
I dunno. The 911s USP is the rear engined layout, no? Why does anyone buy a 911 rather than a Cayman? Occasional rear seats and a (now, I think) unique rear engined layout. So why not a diffusion line?
