Thinking of buying a Subaru Forester 2.5 XT
Sorry if this is in the wrong category, but didn't know if to post this on the off topic or the sports car board.
As stated, considering buying a Subaru Forester 2.5 XT as my wife's daily driver. She thinks the current (MB C32T) is too small with the kids in child seats and she wants a SUV or MPV since she appreciates the higher driving position and vision that provides.
Obviously, I won't be seen in an MPV so a SUV it has to be. Other candidates are ML, Cayenne and Toaureg but a few things speak in favour of the Subaru:
1. EVO, the magazine rates it very high, which is interesting since I will be driving it from time to time (my wife also appreciates more EVO-like cars as well).
2. As a "wear & tear" car with kids for the next 3-4 years the economics of the Subaru is very appealing (factoring in the guarantees, insurance and new car price etc)
3. One drawback is that the VDC, vehicle dynamics control system is only available with auto (albeit that is something called "Sport shift"). Would prefer a manual but when it comes to a car to drive my kids I want all the safety that's available.
Also, if possible I would like to install a performance pack from Prodrive that apparently doesn't void guarantees in some EU countries. Haven't checked if it's available in Sweden or the guarantee situation so this is a bit of a long shot.
Anyone on Rennteam having experience with the Subaru Forester? Feedback much appreciated!!!
