First service - hit with multiple recalls...
My 997S was in for its first service today - 2 years old, 12,000 miles on the clock. Thought it would a simple service as its running fine without any issues. I did get a recall notice from Porsche to replace the exhaust tips, which was the only other item for todays service.
Anyway, had a call from the dealer .... then sat down and felt totally p155ed off. Car needed at dealer for 2 days whilst they pull the crank case open to put in a spacer or something under recall number W545 (drop the transmission out to do this). Also needs to have another recall notice W557 addressed which is related to the shift cable and bracket.
Wouldnt have minded so much if Porsche had sent me a notice or something as they did for the exhaust tips recall (A601). W556 front latch bolts recall also applied today btw.
Looked to be quite a few VIN's on the list of crankcase recalls from what I could see....I know this was posted in 2005 on this board...but thought Id mention again as Porsche clearly missed getting in touch with me regarding this recall and it sounds pretty nasty if it should cause a problem, particularly for anyone with one of the ealier cars (mine is Dec 04) where the miles may be high and warranty period coming to an end.
I know that Porsche will take care of all of this, but Im now going to be without the car for a few days (3 in all), and I have to say that Im surprised with the number of items needing work (have owned plenty of nice cars and cant remember anything like this sort of thing being needed on any of them).
