    HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

    Hey guys,

Just got an email from Autoweek. They're asking for our 997TT owner members to give feedback which will be printed in Autoweek.

    Quote:
    Hi Ron,
My name is Jon Wong with AutoWeek Magazine in Detroit. I came across
your message board during my search for owners of the 2007 Porsche 997
Turbo. We are in need of feedback for an upcoming AutoFile article.
Would you be able to put the word out to your members possibly?
If so, we are looking for the following information:

    1. Full name, City-State address
    2. Price paid for their 997 turbo including destination, but excluding
    tax
    3. A detailed write-up describing their major likes and dislikes
    4. Other cars considered when purchasing their car

Please let me know if you can be of some help.

Please forward me your feedback so I can send it to Autoweek. Since they require your name and location I figured it would be better not to post them in the board.

    Cheers,
    Ron

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

Did he want the drivers to leave the keys under the front door mat too?

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

He didn't mention that but if you want to just let me know where you leave the key I'll make sure they get it .

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

I suggest to post the feedbacks in the board, so we can read it without mentioning the names or locations.

at least we will get some good information from 997tt owners before Autoweek do

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

    That'll work too .

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

That sounds fishy, if he found you on the board why didn't he post his contact info so we can respond to autoweek directly?

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

Autoweek does this on a regular basis for almost all the cars ( exotic cars like Ferrari and Lambo are not included because of limited production). Nothing to be suspicious about. They have a regular feature about feedback from car owners regarding their car purchase.

Exactly right Nick. They just want feed back from the owners to fill up their pages nothing sneaky about it.

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

    Cynical group, aren't we.

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

Kush, not sure if you are referring to my post as cynical but if you feel comfortabe e-mailing your name and address to autoweek through an intermediary, please feel free to do so. I just don't think it is appropriate.
And Nick, I know autoweek does those reviews and this may be legitimate but there are better ways to get reviews. Just my opinion and no offense to you Ron.

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

They sent me a request for a writeup on the old board that I used to frequent, M5board.com. I thought that was strange.

There are ways to approach the security issue.

BTW, I was not trying to bust anyone over this. I was just reporting that Autoweek does this on a regular basis.

Not your post in particular, just the general tone of the thread. Didn't mean any offense. Maybe needed one of those smileys (I never really know which one to use though). Anyhow, I'm from New York; we farm cynicism.

    Re: HELP NEEDED for Autoweek

Guys, I wouldn't like to give away my name and address either, so yes, I understand your concerns very well.

If some of you feel the need to participate in the poll, please contact Autoweek and try to figure out if there is a possibility to do that without giving away too much personal data.

No, I would NEVER give a stranger my full name and address when it comes to a poll but everybody should decide on a personal basis and experience.
