OK, this isn't a direct answer to your question, but here's how I feel: I drive an 986 everyday (35000k a year)and on track often. I just tried a Cayman S on roads I know pretty well and got to this conclusion: Obviously the car is more powerful, more focused and stiffer. But, there's a but, you're still driving a Boxster like car. Yes it's noticebly more powerful, but on the road, it's very, very difficult to get to notice the power "gap" on open roads. I love this forum, but I feel everyone is getting so precise about every single HP you get out of a new car. C'mon, who, and when do you get to take advantage of a 15 hp power difference? Even on track. How many times did I get overtaken by C2, 986s aso on track? As well, how many times did I get overtaken by 3.2, 2.4s aso?
Regarding 987, I guess the main point is: option. Where do you wanna go with your Boxster? If you hesitate between 3.4 and 3.2, that means budget is an issue. I'd say, if it's an issue for you ( it often is, for most of us), get an 3.2 and save some bucks for good track tyres, stiffer suspension settings and driving lessons, week-ends on different tracks!
I don't want to give lessons, but I have to say that reading too many articles get you to the point where a 15 hps difference seems like a canyon. It surely is not.

thanks, I'm looking forward to read more!
Also, are there any other end-user-noticeable improvements on your new MY07 ?
I would like to buy a 987S in the next months and certainly the new engine has been a clever Porsche move to keep selling new cars ;-)
Also some things like the PSE weren't available yet...

Run it in and then take it to the red line before you judge too harshly

Parts of the cupholder are now made by a much cheaper looking plastic material. But you will only see it when you open the cupholder....

I hope I do appreciate the change after 5000 revs but it will be a bit of a change for me too because my usual style in previous cars has been to accelerate hard to about 4 - 5000 and rarely push above that.
