I agree, the 993 Turbo S on the picture looks great, not a bit outdated. But it isn't as fast as the 997 Turbo I'm afraid, unless modified.
It may not be as fast as the new Turbo, but the 993 Turbo S has a presence that shadows the new car beginning with the exhaust note, I grew up hearing the wonderous sound of those air cooled engines, curb appeal, etc. There is no high tech plastic, sharp edeges to the metal pressings etc. With only 182 produced, and 6k miles, I have been offered more for my 97 Turbo S than you can buy a new turbo for. My Speed Yellow 997TT is in production now, and I should have it in a month. I'll bet, based on my driving experience this weekend, that I don't keep it a year. The new car feels sterile compared to the 97. On the subject of quickness, you're right, the new Turbo will be in the bone yard or a member of the out of date club much quicker than my 993 Turbo S, just like the 996. Another overproduced commodity.
