This just goes from bad to worse....
Since getting the car back on Friday with the replacement glass installed by Autoglass I wasn't happy with the installation. Because of this I took the car to the OPC today to have the replacement glass checked out!
Would you believe it...
These were observations made by the OPC technician. Anyway, OPC has said that a new Windscreen is required at the cost of Pounds618.00. They will also replace the seal around the rear quarter light that Autoglass wouldn't fit. Thank god really because the Windscreen fitting is a disaster. The OPC anticipate a Pounds1,000 worth of corrective work to put it right.
Get this though.
When it happened I called Porsche Assistance. They told me to contact Autoglass as they are recognised as a registered and preferred installer.
I complained to my insurance company today and they have agreed to pay the bill from the OPC however, I have to pay it in the first instance and they will recompense me by return of post! Emm, sounds suspect so I've asked for confirmation from the insurance company.
What made me laugh today is that it takes Autoglass 4 hours to do, yet the OPC 3 days! Okay, Autoglass got it wrong but hey, who's the cowboys here? They also want to give me a Vectra as a courtesy car...lol....I thought I'd left Vauxhall behind a long time ago.

I just realised this post is useless without a point! So, my point is, if it happens to anyone, insist the Porsche dealer does the work. You won't regret it.
Would you believe it...
- Windscreen not bedded in seal correctly;
- Seal not bedded in aperture correctly;
- Rear view mirror not correctly installed due to Windscreen not seated properly;
- Water settling beneath seal. Potential for corrosion;
- Wind Noise from the top of Windscreen. Due to the fact that the Windscreen comes with the edge seal already fastened to the glass yet still installed incorrectly. There is also a secondary seal which also requires replacement. Autoglass didn't replace this as they thought they had been sent 2 of the same seal!!! Idiots;
- Structural integrity of the car compromised;
- Not safe to drive
