Oil Consumption Statistics
I took my 911S to the dealer as it has been consuming some oil. By nearly 2,000 miles, I had added about 850 ml. I had been concerned because the oil pressure gauge was invariably hitting 5 bar at 3,000 - 3,500 rpm. The manual says that the oil pressure should be at about 3.5 bar at 5,000 rpm. Hence my concern.
After checking the car out, the service rep said that both the oil consumption and the oil pressure was within tolerances.
In any case, I'd like to see what other Rennteam members have experienced with their 911 or 911S. If you could state which model you have, how much mileage you have, and how much oil you have had to add, I could derive some statistics that could be useful to all members, namely the mean oil consumption, the standard deviation of that consumption, and with enough responses, I could do it by mileage category. You might also add in what the engine rpm reading is, once the oil is up to operating temperature, when you hit 5 bar on the oil pressure gauge.
