    Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Porsche-Jeck and us met up in a lovely suburb where he lives close to the banks of the Rhine. Early morning photograph of Porsche-Jeck's stunning car

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

    The two cars together...

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

    and again...

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

    Gee this is really cool!

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Great drive out from Dusseldorf region..

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

    Some great twisting roads...

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

In convoy, two Porsche Boxsters and (what in England is known as a Vauxhaull VX 220 turbo), but here it's an Opel...

Wait for it, it gets worse, I am afraid...

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

On the Autobahn at an indicated 250 km/h (155mph). Exhilerating, fantastic. So composed at that speed, my wife who is normally nervous at high speed was totally relaxed...Mental note for next time - take a photo of the speedo...

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Then, 30 minutes later, at this road junction....

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

    With this car....

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

This happened. A moments lack of paying proper attention, at a speed of no more than 10 km/h. Every driver's worse nightmare, in a foreign country, where I don't speak the language, a road traffic accident. Thankfully no one was hurt, but thank Ferdinand that Porsche-jeck was on hand to sort out the third party, the police... A thousand thanks, no a million thanks to Porsche-jeck for being on hand to sort it all out for us, we would have been in real trouble had it not been for your help. I feel terrible for ruining a wonderful day out that he had planned for us. The car was perfectly driveable, a testiment to the strength of build, next day we travelled back to England, from Rheindahlen to Southampton in 8 hours door to door, including the ferry trip from Calais to Dover. My baby is now in our Porsche-hospital, Porsche Insurance were extremely efficient and helpful, the workshop had approval for the repairs within hours of my phone call, and hopefully, will have her back by the end of next week.

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Oh gosh! Worst nightmare for any 987 owners.... sigh...

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Ouch! That would have hurt! Sorry to see that sight! but glad you guys are ok.

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

oh no....my thoughts are with you and your 987. Just think of it this way, it could've gotten a lot worse.

    Best of luck.

Thanks for your sentiments - you are so right. BTW, when I took the car in for repair, the bodyshop manager was telling me just how strong Porsche cars are - he had a 987 in recently which had had a frontal collision at an estimated 50 mph (80 km/h). The front chassis members were bent at right angles to the car, the driver and passenger were unhurt, the steering column and pedal-box hadn't moved and both doors could be opened and shut normally. Amazing.

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Good to hear that nobody got hurt !!
Best of luck to you Dreamcar and that your Beauty can be repaired like new

Thanks, Freak 2. The (Porsche approved) repairer said door only plus maybe the hinges and door lock. I just hope the car "feels" the same with no new squeaks, rattles or wind noise. My pride may take a little longer to fix, however.

i just wanted to thank you for the nice pictures and the report... and then i've seen this... i can quite imagine that this ruined your trip. it's a pity. germany should be more hospitable for visiting porsches (maybe locking those opels away )

but coming back to my original intention: thanks for your report!

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Such a beautiful trip, wish I could've been th--ohhh... OUCH...

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Just don't do it again! I find application of beer to the brain helps the personal 'injury' heal.

Hey, I just reversed into a wall WITH park assist solid-beeping at me this evening.

I blame a long stressful day. I think I just nudged it, can't see any damage. You're lucky to get away with just the door... but Pounds4000! That's a little steep!

Maybe except for the mid-engined Opel (Speedster), which is quite rare and fun to play with, but for sure the ugly Zafiras should be locked away

Actually the junction / traffic light regime at that specific junction seemed to be a bit tricky to me (even the police officers told me so) and we could here squeaking tyres from other cars (trying to avoid a collision) more than one time when we had to wait for the police

I felt as miserable as Dreamcar after the accident (it's the least you want to experience when playing on the road with a nice Rennteam-fellow).

Anyway, I hope the Porsche-surgeons will do a perfect job and next time I'll arrange a weekend-ban for all ugly Opels

On a more positive note I'd say more Rennteamers should meet beyond the virtual internet-world in real life. It definitely adds a lot to the Rennteam-experience and if all Rennteamers are such nice guys like Dreamcar, you can't go wrong with arranging a meeting - looking forward to the big international Rennteam-meeting planned by RC(whenever and whereever it may take place)

You'd think those Opel Zafiras would have more respect for Porsche cars, since the Zafira was developed by Porsche.

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

    dreamcar,

That's just dreadful. It's painful just to look at that. Glad you're not injured. Hope your car gets repaired in double quick time.

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

    dreamcar,
I hope your baby is as good as new very soon! Of course, good work Porsche-Jeck!

Those are two real beauties- great color combo's!

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

DC - ouch, I feel your pain. Hope the guys at Jesty's get her back to you soon, then we'll have to schedule that meet to compare resprays!!!

Oh, and on the subject of VX220 Turbos, ran one for a few days - fantastic car to drive... one of those cars I keep seeing in the trade mags and thinking hmmm perhaps,,,,

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Ouch sorry about your car. The good news is that nobody got hurt.

Re: Porsche-Jeck & Dreamcar Germany Meeting

Thanks everyone for your sympathy over my broken baby, it is very much appreciated and it is good to know there is a family around such as Rennteam where we can discuss our car related problems. But to reiterate what porsche-jeck has said, it is one thing making internet-friends it is much more rewarding to actually meet up with like minded enthusiasts, and I can honestly say that it has been a pleasure meeting up with local Rennteamers here in the South of England and of course with Porsche-jeck in Germany. Roll on the International Meeting suggested by RC.
