    i personally enjoy manual, i think pressing buttons (although i love it in my gallardo) just really seperates the driver from the car. I really really do enjoy manual shifting, mabey i'm wierd but i like the feeling of complete control of the car, and the nostalgia. If everything could be done by presing buttons how exciting could anything really be?

    I have read that porsches triptronic s on the 997S shifts better than Audi DSG, now just imagine how the TT is going to be...

    have driven both and in my opinion Audi DSG hugely superior.

    Good to know Persuader. How was your Cabriolet experience? Just wondering since it's for sale. I am considering one but I have my doubts.

    Cabriolet was fantastic last summer. Using the wind break that covers the rear seats was really cool as it gave the car a speedster look. After the summer the slant forward rear seats bugged me when the top is up and the poor rear three quarter vision plus i fancyed trying a 4S which is superb on wet rain lashed roads and I like the bigger butt. Also had a 2S Coupe before the Cab.

    Totally personal choice akin to asking for recommendation on manual or auto. However if you have year round sun then go cab.

    Out in sunny southern california, we have year round sun but I will still only get the coupe. Somehow the 997 just doesn't look the same as a cab.

    Don't get me wrong though, 997 cabriolet is still a awesome looking car, but just not as nice as a couple IMHO

    Thanks guys I just pulled the trigger. I went to my dealer where I have my deposit for the 997TT. I still kept my deposit on the TT but I ordered a cab (should be here in April). After driving both I believe the cab felt sportier, but I figured you only live once and having the topless option with a 6speed is nice. My salesman was a class act he just gave me the keys to each demo and told me keep it under 150mph (without him); I barely got over eighty.

    As helpfull as this site is, it could often be confusing. That's why when I ordered mine, I did not post anything regarding my order. I did not want to get "confused".

    Again, this place is very helpfull but sometimes you just need to make a decision and stick to it. If its wrong, buy another one.

    When are you getting your car BD997?

    I was considering the AMG E63 but the 997TT seems like a far better choice, 11.6 seconds 1/4 for an automatic!

    i will definetly get tiptronic if i was to get a 997tt, i have said many time that the 3.7sec in tip could be achieved by anyone!just floor it! in order to get 3.9 in the manual you have to be walter rohl,and ,take out 30% of the life of your clutch,coz you will have to release the clutch at 5000rpm,to get this time.the best time a normal driver could get is around(my guess) 4.5sec. so next time at a red light if you get smoked by a grandpa of 76years in a tip997tt , dont bother and go to the dealer telling him the car has a problem....

    BTW, to achive 3.7s with TIP you should rev it up tp 6000rpm while holding brake pedal and then release it as fast as possible...
    One other hint-if TIP is so superior why is Porsche offering LSD only for manual(TIP gearbox is sooo big)??

    what??? where did you get that info from??? absolutly not true! and imposible to do, how could you go to 6000rpm on drive and release brakes???????
    from standstill you just have to floor the car ....

    I read about it somewhere too. I think it was a drag-race style comparison between 996TT and 997TT Tip in Weissach.
    And yes, the 997TT Tip driver was doing just what KresoF1 said.
    I guess in this case, the torque converter just "spins" freely until you release the brakes. Hell, we all know Porsche brakes are especially strong!
