From the German Price List the PSE will be available w/ either silver or black tips starting 6/16 if I read the German correctly.

You are right, I have overlooked this in the German price list because I mainly use the configurator for prices and configurations. So maybe there is hope...even if I doubt it (considering the VTG charger). Maybe the exhaust will not have a function to switch it on or off manually, so... Smiley Time will tell.

    Re: 718 Boxster

There is a new twist on a bicolor interior on the first video that has a subtly different seat covering design that looks more modern with black inlays with a profiled outer seam on the base side bolsters that visually alters the shape of the seat in a positive way. This doesn't appear on the configurator so I wonder if it something that didn't make it through the design stage or is still to be released I hope it's the latter as the regular bicolor seat inserts look like something Audi were doing 15 years ago angry

    Re: 718 Boxster

I was planning on buying a Cayman GTS, but the styling changes on the 718 made me hesitate. I'm tempted to go for the new design, despite the turbo 4-cyl. Same old Porsche story: even when something very unique and valuable is lost with the new generation, the decision ultimately is to go with the new... Of the 4 Cayman GTS's I was considering, 2 are now gone...

    Sounds good Dave kiss

An interesting side note about the new 991.2 from my dealer is that they have taken a large number of orders for the base Carrera model this time around and have sold all their allocation through until November. It would seem that with the levels of torque that the base model now has it is being perceived as having more than enough power by the majority of buyers who take the demo out on a test drive so they are spending a bit more on options. I wonder if the same thing will happen with the 718 models

I think so. I would never have considered the base model in the past, and have always only owned S and above models because the base models were just a bit too slow. But now with big torque on base model, for the first time ever I'm looking at a base model as a potential. And surely I'm not going to be the only one.

Yes the word connectivity is not something that is associated first with "electronic" in my aging mind.

Just so pleased we believed the rumours and acquired a six cylinder GTS when we did. Smiley Ours ended winter hibernation yesterday, lovely crisp winters day, a thrill as it always is, made even more so by the wonderful six cylinder sound and the instant response only a naturally aspirated engine can provide. Smiley

There is a hint of WRX at idle, but sadly as the rev rises the Subaru has lot more character than the Porsche. And that's not to say that a WRX is a good sounding car!

Actually, it sounds better from the inside according to our source who heard it lately. Smiley Car was not equipped with sport exhaust though (I assume) but since the car in the video had PSE, maybe the car our source heard had PSE as well? I will ask him as soon as I get to talking to him again.

Of course there is no way a 4-cyl. sounds better than a 6-cyl. but maybe the PSE will add a bit of sound which is actually enjoyable? Those videos don't really say much, I guess we need to wait until we can actually drive the car. Not that it will really help though... Smiley (looking at the negative comments about the 991.2 Carrera S PSE sound, a car which in my opinion sounds pretty good for a turbo charged car).

For the price, not only do you have to ignore it being a.4 cyl, you also have to pretend that it sounds good. Oh well.

To me, the lack of impressions from Geneva is telling. I had a look and a sit, but it seemed unremarkable. Not really exciting in its current guises. The rear lip / badge looked better than I expected, but having two badges on different colours and angles together doesn't really work for me.

    Re: 718 Boxster

I spent a bit of time in the 718 at Geneva today and the best thing about it was the CarPlay PCM. I will be a touch disappointed in the old PCM in my GT4 when it arrives in July.

The Boxster 718 rear lip is untidy and fussy. The interior is OK, but the stand out feature is the PCM, while the new vents feel untidy. The front doesn't work for me and feels a bit Fiat Barchetta. Other interesting part of today was that the GT4 from last year (Rhodium, yellow stiching LWB's) was back, but in full access of the public - not behind the glass like the 911 R and Lava Orange 718. It still had 14km on the clock, so it hasn't been driven but it was good to show where the wear on the LWB leather was going to be after 1,000's of people sitting in it. The best way of getting in and out of the LWB is definitely to push it full back and give yourself more space to climb out.  Incidentally, the brown leather on the 911R LWB looked worn already so it might be softer than the standard black leather.

    Here  are some 718 pics

    Re: 718 Boxster

From Geneva... IMHO the car is not as beautiful as the 981.1 and the rear "PORSCHE" lettering looks sh*t.

    The front is also worse.
The form of the lights look like 996. The bumber boring.
Not to speak from the engine, powerful but boring.

I think the GTS will improve the look but not the boring engine, despite more power.

Exactly! It looks very much like a 986/996 in the front.

Agree that the 718 front-end does not look the best. I think it has to be in dark colors. This black one look much better and the LED head lights makes it more agressive also.

Overall even visual not an improvement.
Back lights look like aftermarket tuning.

Not to speak about loosing 2 cylinders.......

Only PCM and the performance are an improvement, especially with the Non-S.

Difficult to see many people "upgrade" from 981 to 718.
I have my doubts about the success of this car.

You are speaking out of my heart Smiley The 981 is the better looking, better engine, lower price car. Why buyint the 718?

    Re: 718 Boxster

I suspect 718 will sell because of its better performance which is its only real selling point over the 981 - but not to drivers who have experienced a "proper" Boxster. Smiley

The PCM is better (not that would bother me), I like the new slender spoke 20" wheels. The option of LED headlights for the first time in a Boxster is good and would have had them in our GTS if they had been an option. The new sports multi-function wheel is hugely better than the ugly old one that was better suited to a truck. Everything else I'd throw in a skip.  Smiley
