    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

I just realized I posted in the wrong section. Sorry. I guess it's time to go to bed. If a mod could move the thread to the right section. Thanks.

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

    That should buff out.

I am glad he is OK, I am not a member of that Bulitain board. I would like to send him a Private email. Can you get it by chance?

    Thanks

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

Scary stuff! Glad to hear he escaped without a scratch!

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

this pictures is just what i dont need to see....
    it makes me sad!

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

Hopefully the driver is alright, maybe somebody could give us some insight?! The 997 is a pretty safe car, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the driver got away with some bruises and maybe some broken ribs "only".

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

According to his post on the Flat 6 forum he walked away - only sore and bruised I imagine. The accident occured during a rainstorm. He had slowed down but hit a patch of water, hydroplaned off the road and rolled.

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

    WOW

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

OT but P-cars are built like tanks. My wife rolled (several times) her red 944 Porsche on the way to pick me up at the airport one night. The car took out a heavy chain-link fence and ended up on its side. Beth used the power windows switch to OPEN the now sky-facing passenger side window and climbed up and out of the P-car. Beth got not a scratch, the 944 was totaled but still brought decent money even as a salvage. Beth replaced her beloved red 944 with a blue 944 Turbo.

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

Porsche cars are indeed pretty safe....notice the passenger compartment is intact.

    Here's the picture

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

the driver walked away without a scratch. lucky i guess.
would be interesting to know at what speed he flipped.
a-pillar looks really strong. good to know. he should be realy glad he was not driving a cab.

the pop-up bars are a real joke. they only work provided you are flipping on a smooth even surface i.e. road. fly off the road and you will be crushed.

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

    wow... glad hes OK

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

    Glad he's OK!

A good reminder to slow way down in the rain.

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

A very good reason not to get a cab.

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

I am sure most people do not drive their convertibles in inclement weather.

Mish, I was referring to the original photo of the incident where the car rolled over (the thread title).

Rolling like that in a cab would have had more serious consequences than walking away with a few bruises.

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

<Rolling like that in a cab would have had more serious consequences than walking away with a few bruises>
I don't know about that. the roll bar deploys and the windscreen header is as stong or stronger than the coupe.
the seatbelt tensioners keep you firmly in the seat.
all in all , it should be a similar experience.

This is correct... as long as the ground is even. If it's not, I sure hope you're shorter than the seat.

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

    You guys are scaring me

    Re: rolled his 997s (pics)

You probably can't find it because you should be looking for an F360 with a pick-up truck on its roof. Taken in in either Alabama or Arkansas, if I remember correctly.

I can't be 'most people' then! My baby gets driven whatever the weather. Still have the winter tyres on though and am often glad of it, as they are much better at cutting through standing water.
