So 1st day done. Short report before dinner, might type more later.
It turns out the 918 training even is operating concurrently with the Porsche driving school full of GT cars, 991 GT3, GT3RS and some Turbo S. We basically shared the track. In the morning they have one side and we got the other, afternoon we run together.
Anyway, the 918 section runs as 4 groups, 14 cars total, 5 customers' own cars, 4 instructor cars and 5 prototype 'rentals'.
Morning we lucked out on weather, it was dry, but windy, mostly it's familiarization runs, the car is so forgiving in the dry, we keep screwing up and the car's limit is so high that it just takes the abuse without complaining and pretty much stay on whatever line we picked.
Had lunch then the rain opens up, first it was drizzles then a little bit harder. We running the full track by then. All the ideal lines that were rubbered in are now slippery as hell. Among the 13 owners that ran, there was 3 spin outs, yours truly claimed 2 of them, one with my co-driver, did a 270, the other with one of the instructors riding shotgun, more or less 90 degree.
The Cup2s have surprisingly good grip if we stay outside on the turns in the rain, but it's useless once I ventured into the rubbered area. I am ok in the dry when I man handle the car, but the car keep biting me back in the wet, needs to learn to be much more smoother with steering and throttle, man those mountains of torque is no joke.
Oh, the GT3RS sounds great running full bore down the front straights, in a way I think they sounds nice than even the 918s.
