C'mon, the entenbürzel on a 991 does not look that bad - personally, if and when possible (aerodynamics etc.) I would always go for this on a 991. At least, Porsche gives us many options to choose from...Smiley

Had to look that one up - ducktail in English Smiley  I'm guessing your comment about front and rear means it will have the 991.2 items?

They should save the ducktail for the inevitable 73 Carrera RS 2.7 50th Anniversary model in 6 or 7 years...

    Re: 911 R Thread Chiuso

    Latest rumor from today:

    1. 600 cars (100 cars for Germany only)

    2. 475 hp GT3 based engine and chassis/brake system

    3. base price around 240k EUR (incl. 19% VAT in Germany)

    4. lightweight materials for hood, engine lid and other parts

    5. PDK(!)

    6. rear seats and comfort options (A/C, PCM, sound system, etc.) optional

Please take this with a grain of salt because this is basically the same information I got a few months ago, so maybe it isn't really new.

Car is rumored to be basically sold out. Also, apparently, this car is not part of the 918 VIP program.

I know I should get one but I don't have the money right now. Bummer. Smiley

Better than the Sport Classic, which was basically a Carrera S with powerkit. Smiley

I still do not understand why Porsche doesn't offer a GT3 without the rear wing and with backseats, they would sell a ton of those. Smiley

Actually I would have spent 200k for a Carrera 4 GTS Cab with GT3 engine and GT3 brakes/chassis. Smiley

Okay, I've seen the car. There was no camouflage on it. The only thing that was covered was the centre console, so you could not tell, if there is a manual or PDK underneath. However, the steering wheel didn't feature flappy pedals, so that leaves only two possibilities:

    1. the car will have PDK, but the to fool those who see it before presentation they've installed a steering wheel without pedals
    2. the car will be manual

Since the car looked finished, I believe the latter, so that there will be at least the option to order it as manual.

What else could I see: new air vent at the bottom of the engine lid (we talked about this here before), filled with a mesh, air vent below the front hood, similar to that of a GT3, also filled with a mesh, rear bumper exactly the same as that of a GT3, retractable rear spoiler like that of the standard Carrera (with the "old" horizontal grill, not the new one of the 991.2), front bumper of the GT3 with the old indicators and DRL, rear lights like the 991.1, CF-sport seats in leather/fabric with old-style Pepita-patterned cloth in black and white in the centre.
The car featured PCCB and GT3-style rims, wheel caps were covered as well as the designation in the head rests, which should read 911 R, new-style steering wheel  in alcantara but without the Porsche "manettino", sport design rear mirrors, dials with white indexes, rev counter with "911" in white and "R" in red, alcantara interior with aluminium accents, GT3 RS front hood with regressed middle part. Car did not have rear seats.

Now, I have ten pictures of the car, but I won't post them here.

One word to the driver as a well-meant advice: politeness helps a lot, in both cases, if you want to achieve or prevent something. Not that he has been rude, far from that, but you can never tell, who is the one standing in front of you. And if I park a brand new Porsche with "LB-Y 3028" plates in front of a shop and leave it unattended for more than 15 minutes (I was on my way to and back to someone and the car had not been moved) and leave the driver window completely opened all the time, you should be aware in times of smart phones etc. that someone interested will take pictures of it.

So it has been me, who took the pictures and telling someone "that you don't want pictures of the car to be taken and don't want to see them appear in social media" won't help in most cases, yet I won't post them here. Just a little bit more friendliness would be nice.

If he wants to contact me, I guess Porsche has my number and address. Smiley

Thanks for the news kiss this car is intersting if it's really "light" (special interior like the 1965 R spirit.) but i thin for the motor the 4.0l with the GT3 motor problem... the 1967 R have a big motor and very light. I hope for the 4.0 motor i love this motor ;) but PDK... doubt for a lightweight car

If the steering wheel didn't have paddles, it certainly wasn't PDK. Unless they used a steering wheel without paddles, which wouldn't make sense with PDK though.

I guess we just need to wait and see, only sure thing seems to be the price tag. Smiley

I hope for the 4.0 motor i love this motor ;) but PDK... doubt for a lightweight car

You are aware that while the "R" will be lighter than the regular 911, possibly even lighter than the GT3, it won't be really lightweight per se? PDK weights aprox. 20-25 kg more, so no big deal.

I see the following problem with the 911 R: If the car has no PDK and no AWS, no matter how much lighter it is going to be (let's say 50-60 kg less vs. the GT3), it cannot really compete with the GT3.

So the question is: Would Porsche build a limited edition car for 100k more than a GT3 but with slightly inferior performance? My answer is yes but I don't know if customers would care or not. Since this is a limited edition car, I'd say that customers wouldn't really care about raw performance but you never know.

Since I saw a version with backseats and PDK, I have a hunch that if Porsche decides to offer the R with manual and without backseats, we can expect something else as well with PDK and backseats. Unless of course this was only a mule and it will be shredded afterwards. Smiley Smiley

For me, a GT3 without that rear wing, with PDK and with backseats would be a dream come true. Lets see how Porsche deals with that. Smiley

    Re: 911 R Thread Chiuso

At the time the 911R is output with the 906 engine ( carrera 6) single overhead cam head and triple carburetors body delivering 210 hp at 8,000 r / min . The shirts are chrome , the crankshaft has 8 bearings and titanium connecting rods , the flywheel is lightened and reinforced single disc clutch.

906 engine is one of the most powerfull in 1967 and a race engine.

That would be incredible if they gave us the 500hp RS motor with the 1,860 pound 67R weight.  Power to weight ratio would be 3.72 pounds per HP.  For comparison, the 918 with Weissach Package has a worse 4.06 Smiley
