Apparently, McLaren haven't accepted liability!
I am surprised they didn't give the benefit of doubt to customer willing to experiment with their new car brand and asked for money! It is a trivial amount that they should readily cover.

In Germany there is a chance that a car-insurance covers these kind of animal-damages (Marderschaden).

Yes, I'm assuming it's covered by my comprehensive coverage. We have collision, liability, and comprehensive. Comprehensive is usually the coverage that is related to, well, non-collision. So things like weather, fire, theft, etc.
I assume that if a bear walked up and chewed off my mirror, it would be covered, and as such I expect if an animal eats part of my engine heat shield it is covered.
Given the absurd premium we pay in my state to insure these cars and my lack of claims over the years, I'd be raising hell if they don't cover it.
