    My wife has found her sedan to just sit too low. Born with congenital hip dysplasia, even a couple of hip replacement operations (both on the same side) cannot actually replace hip bone that just is not there. 

    Have not really found any vehicle that seems to suit, but will follow your pursuit with great interest. 

    EDIT: I did have a great time at the last auto show trying out sitting in as many cars as she could tolerate.

    Hi Gladstone Smiley I'll keep you all posted on how we get on. extended test drive with the S3 on Saturday 16th, so should have a better idea then. Only upside is a few weekends of showroom visiting encouraged by SWMBO!! Smiley

    Damn that is one really hot BMW.. they hit the nail on the head with this one I think. It`s got a more timeless BMW design and a retro aspect too it. I like it more than the 1er and the 3er has gotten a bit too plain. This is actually a perfect substitute for my e30, as seen one page one.

    If I were in the market right now I'd have a tough choice between this 235i, the all new CLA or even a Focus ST is very impressive at just 30K new with all the options you can imagine and a fun driving experience.

    The new Audi S3 is a piece of total crap. Really disappointed. Dreadful turbo lag, lifeless steering  and a nasty booming synthesised engine note. The A3 184bhp diesel S-Tronic was a far better car to drive believe it or not. Smiley

    If I was working within a budget I would get a better priced third car rather than part with the Porsche.

    Dreamcar, stay with your 911 because you will miss it sorely.

    I've come to that conclusion - fortunately before it was too late...tried numerous what we thought could be replacements but they all have one big disadvantage - they were not Porsche.Smiley

    Had a great run in it over the weekend in the winter sunshine over the Sussex Downs to Burgess Hill and back (the good bit) Smiley to see SWMBO's mother (no comment)Smiley

    Also, had some good news last week from son-in-law who is currently stationed in Cyprus - we will be spending Christmas with them - he has been promoted and will be returning to Germany in the spring (Herford) so another great trip across in the 997 in the early summer Smiley

    That's the really nice thing about our 997 - genuine mechanical music, no artificial ingredients....Smiley

    If I could justify the money I'd buy a 991 GT3 in a heartbeat for the sound even if it had nothing else going for it....SmileySmileySmiley

    In every other country in world the 8 speed auto on the M235i costs more, in Australia it is std, and we can get manual as a no cost option!

    There is a reliable BMW insider who writes on Bimmerpost.com that the above is all very factual, except the motor will almost certainly be an aggressive Turbo-4 with the whole concept of the car emphasizing weight loss.  Sort of like the first E30 M3 (4-cyl) while the non-M was available back then as straight-6 (325i).  This will distinguish the various M cars by cylinder count (M1&2 - 4, M3&4 - 6, M5&6 - 8).  I think it could be an interesting option if they really get weight down below 1,400 kg.

    Just noticed Audi are doing the same with the S3. Price gouging is alive and well in Australia as our government will not allow competition eg private imports.

    Yeah, saw this article about the S3 Plus with 375hp 4-cyl:

    They say next TT RS could have 460hp 5-cyl.  That would be weird marketing strategy to have their cheapest sports car platform make more power than their premium sports car (R8 with V8 at 450hp).  Maybe that is why some rumors say the next R8 will be V10 only?
