ALDO:
Hi,
I´m seriously considering to order a new 991 GT 3.
Here is my configuration, what do you think about:
red or white?? - my last 6 cars where white.
standard seats or full electrical?? or even sports seats??
leather or not??
LED?? do I need this?
Lifting system? is it enough lifting??
I will use it as a weekend car - sometimes track more road
Go Big or Go Home. Red. White is great for commercial vehicles, like delivery vans carrying brezels.
Sport seats if reasonable track use; standard if mostly street. I have no use for the heavy, expensive Adaptives (Electrical).
Leather: I think it's worth the money actually. I don't think you'll regret the extra cash outlay to get that dash in leather and seeing the stitching every time you get behind the wheel.
Lift: having had both the 997 and 996 GT3 this is a must for me. Only adds 6 or 7 kilos but removes a lot of stress from day to day driving. If you search on rennlist 997 GT3 section you'll find those who find the lift a must outnumber those who say it's unneeded 10:1. Even if you don't live in a hilly area, sometimes you encounter a fuel station with a steep enough transition, or a speedbump on a residential road that the GT3 will not want to traverse unless you take it super slow at a 45 degree angle. You can do this, but it's actually a pain in the butt and detracts quite a bit from it's usability. The scraping of the front lift constantly is like nails on a chalkboard.
Never mind the mentality "Ill just replace the splitter every year it's cheap". There's more to it than that. It's about stress free driving. . . you'll have plenty of other things to worry about in a RED GT3. ;)
LEDs: I think they are not well executed (appearance wise) and the halo around the dual lights is not sharp and kind of aftermarket looking. I'm sticking with the basic lights, which are fabulous, and using the money to get something you actually appreciate every time you get behind the wheel: full leather
Consider the no cost option leather steering wheel b/c the Alcantara tends to get get a bit worn out after a few years, along with the cargo net and smoking package noted above by nberry.
