Lucky Number 214
Emerging out of the mess that is my neighborhood in lower east side of Manhattan. I feel blessed that my family is ok and pure lucky that I decided this past Saturday to move my GT3RS 4.0 to my brother-in-laws upstate for a winter hibernation. The move had nothing to do with the storm, but boy, am I lucky that I did move it. Our street, and the garage, where I parked the Porsche and still park my X5M was flooded with more than 5 feet of water. The garage management still will not let us into the garage as there is still 2 feet of standing water and the water is now mixed with gasoline. I am assuming the X5 is ruined, but luckily insured and replaceable. The 4.0 would have been another story all together. This was pure dumb luck as the timing of the move had nothing to do with the impending storm. I thought our street might get some flooding but nothing like what happened. One might have said we should know better but in past storms where there was talk about storm surge this garage was ok. My expectation was that we would have a maximum of 1 foot of water but nothing like what happened. The damage in the area is staggering. I am seeing pictures for the first time today as I have been offline since 9 pm on Monday when the transformer exploded.
Thanks to the big guy for watching over our family - the car is just material but I will take the luck when I can get it.
