The rear view always gets me, especially when the taillights come on. This is a seriously HOT car.
DRIVE IT IN THE BEST OF HEALTH! I'm currently contemplating a base Carrera with nothing more than PDK, Sport Chrono, PASM, PSE and the Burmester Sound System. Luscious and expensive options, but my goodness is it a tempting proposition.
Keep posting and show us that interior! Let us know how you feel about the car the more you drive it.

Congratulations, Soenke...very good choice. Have you read the Sport Auto comparison between the new M6 and the 991 Carrera? Amazing car(the 991 Carrera).
Very good color combo choice too...I would have ordered exactly the same.

I only saw the magazine yesterday and the Carrera tested was manual transmission. The PDK model would have totally annihilated the BMW.
In the same magazine there was also a test of the Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale.
NBR: 8.14, Hockenheim: 1.13,7. Very disappointing for a supposedly performance special at €170.000

The Stradale looks and sounds great but performance is hugely disappointing. I'm glad I didn't go for one, almost fell for it before I got the 997 Carrera GTS Cab.

Thank you all. I've had a 991S for a weekend and a 991 base loaner b/c of the delay -- of course I'm biased but I liked the 3.4 engine a little bit more. Sure, S is faster, specs don't lie. But both engines lack low end torque, 3.4 engine IMHO has a lot of character, very responsive, rocket-like after 4.500 rpm and sound (with sport exhaust) is out of this world, it really screams. PDK is best tranny I've ever experienced, fast, smooth, and downshift gargle is nearly on par with F430 F1.
@Rossi: I agree. Without the silver rim it would be too black, I also quite like the front lights with the chrome rim. I've also ordered privacy rear windows without seeing them before and was afraid that they might look painted black like with a tuned AMG S-Class. I'm glad that they're not that dark. It's nearly noticeable.
@throt: yes, you're right. But quad pipes do come with the optional sport exhaust
Some more pictures, rear wing, 2 interior shots and the glass sunroof which is really nice.
Now that looks surprisingly mean for a standard Carrera, the -20mm really does wonders for the car. I also like the privacy glass, I would've had the same concern, fearing that it would look like an aftermarket addition like you tend to see on so many French 997's, yet it doesn't.

From what I observed (coincidence?) in Germany black rims are very popular particularly on Porsche.
I had mine for a few months and I decided in the end that I preferred the standard silver ones which I refitted when I put new tyres.
I have stored the blacks, after I tried unsuccessfully to sell them

I started the black rim revolution in Germany. 
Back in 2000.
Funny story actually: I ordered a guards red 996 Turbo with black painted rims. Porsche called my dealer, after the order went through, to confirm that the black rims weren't a mistake. 
The Porsche guy actually recommended against it because it would look horrible. Apparently I was ahead of my time.
Yes, I see many cars with black rims lately but this is something which appeared aprox. 2 years or so ago. Same with matte black paints or folia.
I'm actually not a friend of the silver ring Porsche uses around the black painted rims, I think that a completely black wheels looks better, especially with red or yellow brake calipers. However, a friend from the forum told me that completely black painted rims look kind of cheap, something I cannot confirm but I get the idea why he would think that.
As always...colors are a matter of taste and personal preference but I kind of started to hate silver rims, don't know why. Even my wife is on the same page here, her new X3 35d, we are going to pick it up on November 3rd, is going to have black matte painted winter wheels. 
I'm also considering re-painting my summer wheels for the PTS in matte black. Without the silver line.
