KMM:
Huge improvement over the flawed original. Having said that, a couple of points:
- It looks too Audi-esque in the rear
- I still would love to see a fastback, like the original, but without the ungainly hump at the intersection of roof and hatch; i.e., a slightly lower, faster roofline (which I understand was the original intent)
Regarding the lack of mirrors; it may look like something is missing now, but it will seem natural after a while.
The fastback mention reminded me of a rendering I found a while back for the rumored Pajun. I think it looks fantastic; the crease that merges into the taillights a la 991 adds a very distinct touch to the rear, brings the whole composition together without any extraneous bulges or mismatching shapes and it could be a great way to integrate a speed-activated spoiler similar to Audi's A7 without having a big black block rise and block the Panamera's rear window the way the current spoiler treatment works. If Porsche maintains the car's signature rear hips, the rear section could pair curves and lines in a very organized, coherent and beautiful manner.
What do you guys think?

Way too much of the 991 here...it has to be different. I also would like to see a sideline of your image...this is actually where the issues with the "hump" start.
I also don't like the area above the back lights, it looks weird. Maybe because the rear hatch is too narrow. Interesting concept but flawed.

Misha011:
Front hood opens same way as 918's ( or similar to 1960 Triumph Herald )
That would have sounded sooo much better if you'd said "similar to a Jaguar XK-E".
Definitely it would , but it's based on my own memory of that time and a Herald of my friend's father ...
Would strikes me in the pictures of the sportsback concept is the unbalance in deisgn curves between the back and the front: The front is dominated by big, round shapes and curves, whereas the rear shows only small, pointy, narrow shapes. This makes it look unbalanced and almost like two cars glued together for me.
I hope that in real life, that is a bit different, cause so far, I am not convinced yet.

It is right design decision, otherwise car looked too heavy in the back... Thats bad for such types of cars.

Design wise I think it looks good. Whether this a variant of the Panamera or it will shape the new Panamera model (not the facelift - too late for that) is yet to be seen.
More concerning was the statement about hybrids being the future for Porsche....I'll get my last model before they make that change...
shin:
... As this shooting break variant will be a bodystyle of Panamera Mk2 due in 2016 at the earliest (assuming the Mk2 saloon in 2015), I'm confident the car will come with no wing mirrors.
So that's 4 years after the release of this concept. thats the same time form concept to production that the AM Rapide had, and when it finally came out the design looked dated. This car looks fantastic at the moment and we're raving about it now, but if they wait as much as 2016 to do anything like it it might just look old at the time.
Saw it in paris today....
This is such a beautiful car!!!!
it looks good from any angle. such a shame pana didn't look like this from the start!
965 3.3turbo/ 993 targa / 996 cab /997S cab
Audi R8 // Audi A5 S-line 3.0tdi Quattro/ RR 4.4i
Looks like something that if available in the marketplace today I would consider buying. Unfortunate the literally years it took to get the panamera to where we are today. Sorry but it hasn't, grown on me. This belongs in the showroom sooner rather than years later. As others have also suggested

There were rumors at some point that the next Panamera generation will get an optional fifth seat but so far, I haven't heard any confirmation or denial. The facelift apparently will stay a four seater.
The Panamera concept car is based on the current Panamera generation.

I don't know about you guys, but I really can't wait for the facelift. Reeeeeeeeeeally looking forward to it and to see how Porsche cleaned up some of the current car's loose ends ... and the Macan too. Q1 2013 for the Panamera just seems so far away at the moment!

Wonderbar:
Any thoughts on: Will concept car be shown in Los Angeles Show? Will Panamera facelift appear for Geneva?
I expect to see the official press announcement in 2012 but you never know...
