I fully agree with John and Gnil.
The 991 is a nice car and if you are looking for a new Porsche, you can't go wrong ordering one. Especially as a cabrio it looks beautiful. But if you got a 997.2 no matter which model, there is absolutely no need to change. (Different than in case of the new Boxster: 981 wins hands down). I even think the interior of the 997 is better than the new one. For me the 997 is already a classic 911 like the 993 or the G-model.
+1 - Happy with the Mk2 and wrestling a manual

I don't agree that the GTS is materially superior to the S. A good value for money yes, as any end of the line special is expected to be. The areas where the 991 is superior to the the 997.2 S is also superior to the GTS. But in both cases not so much better as to spend the extra cash.
There are a few aspects where the 997 'GTS' supersedes the 'S'... apart from value for money.
23 more horses. Wide body on RWD. RS Spyder CL wheels. Sport Design front apron. Special side-skirts. Interior alcantara (if you want it!). Standard PSE. Power-train intake upgrades to boost output. Earlier maximum torque.... just to name a few that spring to mind!
Not saying that the 997.2S is not a great car... it is, but the GTS does have certain advantages...

Could you believe how 911 manages to outrun much stronger rivals! Amazing!

Having driven the 991 C2S for a whole week-end, I honestly don't think it beats my current 997.2 GTS in any aspect of performance or driver enjoyment.
Suffice to say, I won't be tempted to move to the 991 merely because it's a later model...
Have to agree with you 100% on this one.

The 991 Carrera S is the faster car under most circumstances (not talking about straight line only) and adding the powerkit would widen the gap even further. On the other hand, the GTS isn't so bad that I would immediately switch to the 991 Carrera S.
However, if I had the choice to buy a GTS or the new 991 Carrera S now, I would opt for the 991. Unless of course the price difference would be huge (more than 30k or so).

I'm pretty curious to my experience next monday.
I'm going for a testdrive with the 991S cab.
After 2 years without porsche and driving a splendid R8 (missing the cab though) i'm not sure what to expect from the 991.
I had the chance to be codriver in a 981S pdk and was pretty impressed...But as a lover of openairdriving i found the boxster too "windy" for our belgian climate.
The "cocoon" of our 997 cab was far more "wind-less" than the 981.
More next week...

I thought the mesh deflector was supposed to eliminate this problem at the expense of not being able to see police cars behind you until they are flashing their lights and sirens!

Let's add time from Sport Auto Supertest of 991 Carrera S 7:44min.
Also, it is clear from video that example of 991S was equiped with Bucket seats, example that Sport Auto had was equiped with Adaptive seats plus. Further, we do not know if that Porsche example was equiped with X51 or not. IMHO 8s difference between HvS and factory Porsche driver is a huge difference. We need to put more light on facts...

if a 991 can match a torque and HP moster like the TurboS it is already a incredible achievement - for me very questionable.....anything else is probably a NBR set up...
Wait until you see the 991 Turbo time... 
Porsche really raises the bar here...I want to see how the competition copes with that in the near future.
