For me, it's a photo from an Iphone with Instagram effect...
This is why the photo looked so weird...giving it a "classic" look but it doesn't look real.

I know sombody who signed up for liquid metal or so - +60k option.....outch - cannot wait to see/drive the car in person.
After seeing yesterday what can be done with colored foil (if done professionally), I really think that spending that much money on a color is just insane. For 3k EUR, you can actually change the color every couple of months to your liking, thus creating a very unique car.
I am thinking of getting a matte grey foil for my 991 Turbo S, it looks amazing (similar to the BMW frozen silver metallic).

I finally did spec the car, picked a car number and asked for a late production. sometime around March/April delivery.
Also had a copy of the price list, but since it's still marked confidential I don't think it's prudent to post it yet.
But most interesting, I can get a cupholder for FREE, a no cost option same for homelink transmitter.
Some interesting options also, stand bucket or tight fit bucket at no cost. But it doesn't say how much tighter.
Authentic leather options for an extra 26k over standard leather, but there was no explanation as to what's the difference or if the standard leather is fake leather.
Paint to sample is available. Foil wrap is a 14k option on the Weissach pack. The Martini and Salzburg livery are no cost option, after you paid the 14k, if you don't want standard colors.
Exterior carbon mirrors are a 5.6k option, carbon roof is a 15.4k option, the carbon wing is a 12.6k option.
If I add up all the selectable options from the Weissach pack, it came out to be around 10k LESS than the Weissach pack itself. Strange.
More interesting bit, in a haste to show me the price list when I config the car, the dealer accidentally showed me HIS cost sheet. Now I know how much he will make on the car . The mark up was surprisingly little. The difference was so little at first we thought Porsche had reduced the list price, until he read the rest of the email.

...and...???)))what is written later on?
He opened the attachment first before he read the email, so I got to see HIS cost. The email was explaining the attached price list was confidential and is the dealer cost for the 918 and it's options.
So I as a customer, was NOT suppose to see that list.................................

Whoopsy lol.
Must be so amazing to price this beauty out to your very liking. BTW, rode the skytrain from Burnaby today (applied to BCIT), anyways saw the new Porsche dealership almost finished! They needed an upgrade badly. I guess you might be able to pick it up from the brand new showroom.
Congrats again, and thanks for sharing some valuable options details. Free cupholders, they really research the American consumer. As for the markup, I didn`t expect this project to make much financially for Porsche directly. Indirectly it will be the new Poster Child and carry the next generation DNA with it.

The mark up on the CGT was also very small...
True and dealers weren't to happy about it.
Neither are the sales consultants who can make more commission on a Cayenne or Panamera sale

Can I just say that I think the Dark Blue metallic will be epic special. It`s a close 2nd after black for this car!

Little bird on the tree told me the new owner pushed too hard for a speedy construction. The dealership was built on reclaimed land, some of the foundation pile wasn't driven deep enough. And it's sinking already.

Good reason for Porsche to reconsider the weight of the 918
I hope you really consider that Dark Blue option... Black is a close second!

I get all the pricing (pretty steep...) but what I don't get is the luggage set for almost 20k, the factory collection at Leipzig for almost 8k (seriously? for this kind of car, it should be free) and the film wrap for almost 15k in different designs (a film wrap of my 991 Turbo S in my favorite color and design would cost me around 3k EUR, not from Porsche but at a very high quality level too). Also almost 33k for magnesium wheels? I won't even comment on the 63k price tag for the Liquid Metal paints. Ouch. Isn't Liquid Metal a paint developed by BASF? Does it really cost that much? Hmmm...
OK, it is kind of dumb to discuss option prices on a car for almost 900k but still, the options are pretty expensive, at least some of them.

About the only option that wasn't stupidly costly was the cup holder
In comparison, the P1 has a flat price all inclusive. No options.
A fully optioned Weissach Pack car will cost over 1.1mil, quite a big jump from the 845k base price. The graphics warp can be applied over the liquid metal paint so someone can spec 77k just for the paint and wrap.
Also been informed that my second choice in car number was accepted. Gave them 4 numbers and the 1st one was too special for Porsche fans, #356, and I didn't order early enough, but the next 3 were the birthdays of my wife and sons so the numbers were only special for me.

The weight seems to be an issue they cannot really control anymore due to the batteries. So the performance optimizations need to come from somewhere else, which isn't going to be easy.
In the end, I think that the 918 will perform pretty well but I don't know how Porsche is going to achieve that (power alone won't do it and I doubt they will go over 918 hp).
Overall, I think that, like on the 991 Turbo S, we are complaining at a pretty high level here.
I like the design and looks of the 918 much more than the one of LaFerrari (way too stylish) or the P1, the 918 reminds me of a more classic Porsche, the LaFerrari and P1 remind me more of a SciFi movie. Which isn't bad but I like the 918 more for it's timeless simplicity.

White kills all the beautiful lines of this car, especially on this photo where sun lightined rear part. But anyway its a gorgeous car! Also I am not sure about black one. Yellow, red, green and etc are primitive. This car needs a special color, like the blue one mentioned above or liquid ones.
