That's exactly what i thought when I saw the first picture! Actualy,I saw the pictures yesterday....and today I can say that I don't realy like it.
Even more - I'm starting to worry about Porsche design direction......

The new Boxster looks pretty nice in reality, the MR-2 like photo doesn't do it justice at all.
Thank god for that. I find the front bland and lacking in pupose, which is in stark contrast and not very harmonious with the side and back. The boldness suits it but I hope the rear spoiler improves with acquaintance.

First pic ever on which I like the midengined Coupé better than the rearengined "big brother" 
The more I watch the Boxster pics the more I like it - definitely will get one (subject to customary due diligence regarding drive feel etc.). 
The only question is whether the rumors about a Turbo engined version (+/- 350 hp) are true and when such engine would come ? Would perfectly suit the driving profile for our Boxster and it shouldn't be rocket science to tickle 400 hp out of the engine

Nice rendering Carrara! I agree with Porsche-Jeck here, but now am torn with which to get. If the next Cayman looks like this, then it will be difficult to decide. Cayman or 991?

Great Renderings Carrara... You've got an amazing talent...
With the 991 so ridiculously priced in my country the new Cayman S is becoming a viable upgrade to my 997 C2S... I spec'd up a 991 S with only the essentials, nothing fancy at all and came out to be $195,000!!! Outside of my Budget... Its down to the 987 S or the Cayenne S... Two completely different cars but its all about budget now... Whats the launch date for the Cayman? Will it be launched with the new boxster?

Carrara - having admired your renderings for some time - and noticing recently how carbuzz.com also took you to be almost a semi-official Porsche designer - can you explain your interest in car design - are you in the business, or is your talent just for fun? I love your work, as we all do..!

Budster: I do it mainly as just a hobby. My work has been published once in a British newspaper, but that's about it. There was also one time where one of my renderings of the RS 4.0 was put in some Saudi Arabian magazine, but that made me very angry, as they photoshopped out my watermarks, signature, and left no credit at all. They didn't even contact me before hand. So, hence I put a large water mark on all of my renderings so things like that don't happen, but with the new watermark, I went through a lot of refinement to make it actually add to the image rather than take away from it. Teamspeed.com usually features my work, hence their mark on the images. Then I'll send the Teamspeed thread out to a few auto blogging sites, and post the renderings on different forums.
So yes, basically, I do it as a hobby, but I'm still very young, so I don't know where it may take me. I really admire Porsche's design, and I find it very challenging and fun to predict future designs. In most of my recent works, I've ditched 100% accuracy for fun ideas and design features. I think I like that route better as its more experimental, and lets be honest, when a car is covered in like 50lbs of camo, its gonna be hard to be too accurate, so why not have fun? But this Cayman rendering was focused on accuracy this time around. Also, I just want to make it known that my renderings aren't 3D, and aren't made from 100% scratch. They are all based off of real photographs, and then manipulated beyond recegnition. But there is a lot of work that goes into each one, and a lot of things are created from scratch. And I don't use photoshop either. No way I'm paying $700 for a graphic program when free GIMP works just as well!

Wow Carrara! Yes, another thumbs up from an impressed reader!
And re. the new Boxster, I have to admit. I initially disliked the side intakes, but the look is certainly growing on me. The new Boxster indeed will be different in character from the older version (i.e. less small "roadster" looking and more sports car "exotic" looking), but also more distinctive from more common cars out there. In fact, if not GT, the look reminds me of the Audi R8, which isn't a bad thing.

Although the new Cayman will very likely share the Boxster backlights, the fenders won't be at all Boxster-like, the rear looks less Boxster-ish. Just as a hint...
