    Ventoux madness!

Just competed the Ronde du Ventoux, a classic car hillclimb.

16 km of pure madness, starts in the forest with straights in excess of 200kmh on a country road, and finishes in a lunar environment with a wall on one side and a ravin on the other.

    8'30 min of pure driving!

It is the craziest and scariest race I've ever done, and I can't wait to do it again!

Hope you enjoy the onboard video. We finished 3rd and 1st of the two persons teams!Smiley

The section at around 4 min is just insane!

    Re: Ventoux madness!

    OMG that's insane - Bravo!!

How did you learn that track or were you just reacting to what was in front of you?

That Porsche 910 is just wonderful - how did it feel on a hillclimb with such narrow roads?

    Re: Ventoux madness!

Great video! It's not often you get good quality in-car video featuring such a classic. A better version of C'etait un Rendezvous.

    Re: Ventoux madness!

Looks thrilling, and the 910 flies and sounds great  Great video

    Great video

    Re: Ventoux madness!

Wow - very intense. I see what you mean about the speed at 4 min, that must have been a real "gut-check". Those trees are awfully close...

    Thanks a lot for posting!

    Re: Ventoux madness!

    Unbelievable Futch!
    My jaw dropped, literally!

So nice to see such a focussed car being run like it should.
Also, you must have a real big heart, flying that low in between the trees... I think I would have needed clean pants... :-)

    Re: Ventoux madness!

    Thanks guys,

My suit was very wet by the end of the weekend!

Easy, I didn't know the hillclimb at all, I did that road a couple of years ago in normal traffic, I highly recommend it by the way.

And for the race, I did a reco ride the night before and the same morning with my California.

Then you get five climbs with your race car, and the winner is the shortest time of the aggregate.

Now check out this vid from Lionel Regal in his F3000 on the same climb, mind blowing!

Take care guys. I will post more news soon, I racing my GT3 Cup in September and I have just bought a 1978 Porsche 935, 670 hp for 1021 kgs! Now that's what I'm talking about!

RS 4L coming this summer too, so will post some impressions.

What car, what a video and what a driver

That must be the longest hill climb ever.

    Re: Ventoux madness!

I think Pike's peak is still the uptimate!

    Merci Mike.

    Re: Ventoux madness!

Moby dick is an evolution of the 935.

Here's the 935, Martini one, no at the Porsche museum:

Pikes Peak is the ultimate test but this was a fabulous driving experience. It is a venue we all would enjoy though not as fast.Smiley

Speaking of Pikes Peak, Monster Tajima just broke the record (again) in a Suzuki Sx4. The video is online. Insane.

    Re: Ventoux madness!

Wow, I am speechless, thanks very much for posting this.

BTW - is this your car?

I saw the Vid, simply amazing!

Hill climbs are the ultimate thrills, no room for error!

    Re: Ventoux madness!

I've seen a 910 in restauration, amazing car, but tiny. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't be too tall to fit in?

But amazing footage, really enjoyed watching that.

    Re: Ventoux madness!

Ventoux is a classic with a bicycle but even better with a Porsche classic. Congrats Smiley

    Re: Ventoux madness!

Pure madness, what a great video!! Truly jealous you are doing these things in a 60s classic racing Porsche.
