Re: How to celebrate taking LFA delivery (lovely sound)

Now this video actually seems to prove for what kind of customers the LFA is made for:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=iu84tIZ7hjo#

    Exactly...the clueless.

Seriously...the only thing missing from this video is sign language.

No, this video is not from a Saturday Night Live show.  Smiley

But that engine is just amazing

If it was sold in Esprit body for 458 price i'd choose it in a hearbeat over Ferrari

    Not going to happen though

Re: How to celebrate taking LFA delivery (lovely sound)

I'd like to raise a question here, because i keep seeing discussions that go 'this car is better than that car because its faster' not just in this topic or in this forum

If we are talking last generation sub-200k sportscars-is speed really the right reason to base the choice on?Do 2 or 5 or even 10 secs on the Ring matter that much?or 200-300kph on the autobahn?

Those are all very fast cars today, but they do have much different 'flavors'outrageous Lambo,hi-tech Audi, flamboyant Ferrari, brutal GT2,retired navy seal SLS,james bondesque TurboS(like a well mannered guy in a suit who can kick pretty much anyones ass)hope you get the idea...

To me its like going to a restaurant and saying 'gonna go with meat meal, its got 1100 calories while fish only has 1090' you're either in the mood for one or the other...

Re: How to celebrate taking LFA delivery (lovely sound)

LFA engined Esprit is an amazing idea,BUT

-Toyota wont let them use their flagship product

-boosted V8 they announced will have even more power and a lot more torque

Damn, how they dare recording an informational video? Clutching at straws, anyone??

A pair of nicer videos, BTW:

P.S.:  The X5 M sounds nowhere near similar to how the LFA sounds.

P.S.2.: The GT-R was specifically designed to beat another hoover machine sounding, AWD , 2+2 coupé on the track, which it does with ease, the Lexus is at another completely different level in everything apart from just cold performance numbers. Quoting evo magazine about the LFA once again:

But never has a car better cloaked its inner specialness: from the dashboard theatre to the noise, to the sliver of titanium you use to engage reverse, it is the more special feeling car since the Macca F1.

    Mithras:

A guy was pulled over in Montreal this week for going 240 kph on the highway. He was fined almost $2,600 and given 42 demerit points (you need 15 to loose your licence for 6 months). Because he had a clean licence beforehand it will only take him 3 years to get his drivers licence back, though he will have to go through drivers school again and I doubt will ever have cheap insurance again. So no, I don't think the fact that a 997 Turbo S is faster to 220 kph or that a TTRS would be beside me at 100 mph is all that important. The only place I personally do those speeds now-a-days is on a track. More likely than not with a track-car.

Rumour is that he was a valet driving the BMW of a hotel guest. Smiley

Minus some loudness level, yes, it does sound like the LFA and it is a horrible sound for a SUV.

The GT-R was specifically designed to lure buyers into thinking that they can get a japanese 911 Turbo minus the horrendous price tag. The reliability record of the GT-R proves something completely different but this car seems to make at least the Playstation crowd happy. Smiley

Re: How to celebrate taking LFA delivery (lovely sound)

Never heard the LFA sound life, but according to all sources it sounds amazing. Anyway, it doesn´t sound like this Gallardo, it´s unbelieveble the sound this V10 can make Smiley, only the CGT can match this sound and from what I´ve hear in videos LFA can´t get there.

I also find the LFA price tag ridiculous, it doesn´t look terrific, it doesn´t perform like a 375K car should, and it comes from a brand without any special sports car history on road or race track.

So the V8 TT engine in the X5 M sounds like a LFA/CGT kind of engine. Not even the old 5.0 V10 sounded that good but they have done some magical trick with the 4.4 V8, right?. Pity is that in my ears it's not even close.

Some owners will suffer from reliabilty problems form their GT-R, some won't (its not like 911 owners can be 100% of their car not having any problems...), but the undeniable fact is that on the track there is no contest between those two cars, not even close....

CGT has a little help. Porsche installed Helmholtz resonance chambers in the exhaust to tune the exhaust note, not that I don't like it - or mind this one bit. Smiley

Re: How to celebrate taking LFA delivery (lovely sound)

The LFA is a magnificent piece of engineering but lacks coherency and emotion. In no part on the exterior, apart from the exhaust maybe, is the attention to detail and technology properly represented in. In the interior, the clever and very attractive electronic cluster has to team up with control dials as have been featured two decades ago and door openers from the parts bin.

Beyond a certain time frame, products do not necessarily get better the longer one works on them. The car would´ve been far more attractive five years ago and with a more reasonable pricetag. The way it is offered today, it clearly is not...

The most appropriate colour in my opinion is black:

Re: How to celebrate taking LFA delivery (lovely sound)

They all sound like girlie cars next to this (too bad about the traction problem):

Re: How to celebrate taking LFA delivery (lovely sound)

For some reason when I hear the LFA's exhaust sound from clips it always reminds me of a 2-stroke dirt bike, or one of those nitro model cars, that Toyota's sound didn't project any power at all.

Re: How to celebrate taking LFA delivery (lovely sound)

Ferdie +1 It does seem to lack coherency and emotion. I still applaud Lexus for coming up with it. Price can be whatever it is as long as they are able to sell them. I think it is a job well done and a true historic piece, especially in the Lexus books.

^^^The shift from 1st to 2nd was shit. Sounded and looked like nothing but a bunch of driveline lash as the clutch slipped.

Paris Hilton's future husband just got her one for her 30th bday in white :)   I like the looks of this car, the black one is scary looking, but i'm also a huge fan of the blue!

Just a thought but a Lamborghini in that blue would be VERY cool.

The Murci came in blue from the factory. Wasn't as popular a color for the car as Yellow, Black, and White was though.
