Porsche to unveil limited edition Panamera for the Middle East

The title says it all: Porsche has announced that it will be unveiling a limited edition Panamera model specifically for the Middle East market at the Qatar Motor Show of 2011.

With a production run of only 66 vehicles, the Panamera 4S Exclusive Middle East Edition will feature Carrara White exteriors and, for the first time ever in any Panamera model worldwide, Carrera Red full leather interiors. The cars all come with the Sport Chrono Package Plus as standard, as well as special carbon doorsills indicating the vehicle's exclusive status and number out of 66.

Sounds exciting, but I wonder what the premium to a more conventional Panamera 4S will be...

There are no pictures as yet aside from this little teaser, but I'll find more as soon as the date for the Qatar Motor Show [January 26-29] creeps closer. I'll try to head to Doha for a weekend to see the car live; details later.

So, does this mean that Panamera is almost at the end of the production ? Smiley

Re: Porsche to unveil limited edition Panamera for the Middle East

Lets make a few Panameras, all with the same determined factory pre-set specified options, add a new color option....uuuhhh...aaaahhhhh... call it a "Limited Edition" and sell it for a premium...  yeah right! der.gif

+1  These limited editions are really just an 'options package'. We know it. Porsche certainly knows it. But it sells, so Porsche keeps doing it.

Re: Porsche to unveil limited edition Panamera for the Middle East

It is up to the customer to buy it. Limited Editions don't mean much to me and indeed Porsche in this case because as you guys say, it's just an options package. But i can see this sell really well in the Middle East where people want to be special and stand out.

Re: Porsche to unveil limited edition Panamera for the Middle East

I would rather go for the Panamera Turbo S, which might even be presented before the rumored facelift in 2012.

Panamera's don't sell well here in Qatar and many people have requested a White/Red combination so maybe that's why

and imo your wrong about that Atzporsche since most of the cars here are white

Personally I would wait for the FL or go for a turbo now

Re: Porsche to unveil limited edition Panamera for the Middle East

My dealer claims that the new Cayenne sells better than the Panamera but on the other hand, when looking at used car prices over here in Germany, I get the feeling that the Panamera is higher in demand. Weird situation.

The facelift may not include a completely new rear I'm afraid, the new rear is coming with the second generation. There will be however some changes to the taillights, changes which will definitely address some of the criticism regarding the Panamera's rear part. The front lights will also benefit from the facelift in my opinion. I also heard again the rumor that a five seater option is planned, unfortunately for a price.

Re: Porsche to unveil limited edition Panamera for the Middle East

Isn't the facelift due for 2014? It's still too early to even be testing camouflaged mules... Maybe some time next year.

Like RC said, we will most likely see redesigned head/taillights along with modified front/rear bumpers. They'll probably add LED indicators to the front units on the Panamera in the vein of the current Cayenne, and maybe they'll smooth the headlight shape out. Just my two cents.

Speaking of Panamera demand, apparently the market for it in Kuwait is higher than I thought. I stopped by the Porsche Centre today and in a conversation with one of the salesmen, I was told that the Centre was completely tapped out of Panamera with the exception of a basalt black S and a white Turbo which were just brought in from the Porsche Centre in Doha, Qatar. The next shipment of vehicles due to arrive within the next month or so is already completely spoken for. As for the Middle East Edition, they're expecting to sell the entire allocation set for Kuwait, as well as import vehicles from other places like Qatar, where the Panamera isn't selling too well and the Cayenne is really taking off.

Re: Porsche to unveil limited edition Panamera for the Middle East

In my part of the U.S., Panamera demand remains strong, especially for the 4S and Turbo.  Regarding the FL Cayenne, my dealer cannot get a larger allocation for now, and what cars do come in are selling quickly.

IMHO, the cars serve different purposes, and sales comparisons can mislead.  I am quite tempted by a Panamera Turbo, but for kids with friends, school bags, skateboards, sports equipment, etc., my Cayenne for now is a better all around choice.  After my daughter goes to college in two years, I will get a more personalized car--a Panamera Turbo or a 991 Turbo.  I am, however, disappointed to hear that the Panamera rear will not be changed with the FL version.    I don't mind the rear from the back view, but from the side it looks lumpy and out of proportion to the whole car.

Re: Porsche to unveil limited edition Panamera for the Middle East

Here the Panamera is selling well too. Mainly the 4S and then the Turbo.

But the 928 used to sell well here too, but did not sell enough in the rest of the world....

    Wonderbar:

This is the same situation for me.

When my two kids were younger, I had Lexus and Mercedes SUVs to carry around all their stuff and pull U-Haul trailers while both of them were in college..

Now that the youngest is about to graduate from college, I have a Panamera Turbo.  I don't need a trailer hitch anymore and the kid-at-college Honda Fit holds enough junk to share in the to-and-from cargo hauling with the rear seats of the Panny folded down.

The Panamera makes perfect sense now, and I am happy as a clam.

The microsite is now live. See it for yourself at the following link:  http://www.porsche.com/microsite/panamera-middle-east-edition/middle-east.aspx

The red isn't too bad. At all, actually. I didn't find pricing anywhere yet, but I'll check with the dealers tonight and get back to you. I don't think it'll warrant a hefty price increase over a standard white Panamera 4S with Turbo II wheels. For more information, see Porsche 911 Carrera Black Edition.
