C'mon RC, if you were offered the 97 Turbo S and the GT2 RS for free you would take both of them.  Smiley

    I certainly would. Smiley

I wouldn't even ask my wife for permission.  Smiley

Unfortunately chances are slim...GT for free...and wife's permission. Smiley

She'd drive the Turbo S.  Problem solved. Smiley

RC, you are assuming that people do not consider driving feel / experience when choosing a car, and only raw performance numbers.  I used to post here a long time ago (can't find my old account), so I know that some people here tend to enjoy cars that drive themselves.

    MKGSR put it very well.

Re: GT2 RS - impressive performer on the street too ?

i do have a TTS production october, but still wondering about the GT2RS... while the street driving "report" does bring some comfort (and street driving is all i'll be doing, given no tracks around here), i can't help that "feeling" of not having the badest, and possible last of the widowmakers, 911 out there...

Re: GT2 RS - impressive performer on the street too ?

i believe that for 90% of us the 997 TTS is the logical choice......but then i would count myself to th 10%...not based on ability but solely on desire

Re: GT2 RS - impressive performer on the street too ?

    Guys,

I have 997.2 TT and as a power junkie i always feel that i need more!!  But this weekend i drove my friend's 997.2 TTS and that car is a monster, you can feel the power difference between the two cars and after driving on the highway together, you could also see the difference. :)  I'm not sure about the GT2RS, I mean with the turbo s you could barely use all the power on tap, you reach the cars in front of you in no time.  Also if you decide to do some mountain driving, you could never put your foot all the way down coming out of corner, in my opinion if you don't have a track that you could explore the full potential of the GTRS, you could just be setting yourself up for a lot of dissapointment, not being able to make full use of what you've paid for.  The TTS to me is the most sensible and logical choice..... All wheel drive, comfort, and more than enough power to satisfy.....

    Just my two cents...

    Hi vantagesc,

Just noticed that you signed a post to Nick in another thread with your first name.

Was that also your forum name in your "earlier life" on Rennteam?

Of course driving feel is important but why not buy an Ariel Atom then instead ? Smiley

When I was young(er) Smiley, I was looking for a challenge and some cars I owned and drove were really challenging, up to the point where I risked my life. Starting with the 996 Turbo, a very forgiving car, I realized that I rather enjoy being very fast without having to fear for my life. The RS-Tuning modification was taking a logical step ahead.

I'm 45 years old now. I  had my share of fun in life but now I started to be more cautious. I prefer to be fast without taking many risks. If I would own a GT2 RS, I would still try to drive this car at the limit, which, depending on my success, would be fun or lethal. In a 997 Turbo S, things would be different for various reasons. Even if I turn off PSM, the car is much more forgiving due to the overall setup.

Don't get me wrong: for the track, the GT2 RS is definitely the car but as a daily driver, I would prefer the 997 Turbo S.

We need to meet in order to do a a test drive Smiley In fact: the GT2 (or, as I assume, the GT2RS) are more precise, easier to calculate and safer (no kidding) to drive. The turbo or turbo S reaches its limits much earlier and reacts much more weird in these situations Smiley At the limits the turbo/turbo s is too soft, lacks sharpness and, in consequence, is more difficult to handle than the GT models Smiley

P.S.: I am really trying to "sell" you one of the GT models Smiley

Yeah, yeah...expensive taste...empty pockets. Doesn't go quite good together I'm afraid.
