UK Ferrar Owners Club summer picnic

Just for Tom here are a few pics I took at an event I went to today at a property owned by the National Trust - Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire. For US members Wimpole is very near to RAF Bassingbourne which is the airfield that the B17 Memphis Belle flew out of in WW2.

I didn't get many pics as my photography skills are zilch so I'm relying on other people who were there today to send me some better shots. In the meantime I was asked by the FOC committe if I'd be happy to let my car be photographed with two other 458s that werethere today and have one of the shots appear on the front of next year's membership card. I was delighted to help and here are some of my poor pics of the 3 cars lined up. Note the varying solutions to the front licence plate issue....mine is firmly staying off Smiley

That is a lot of Ferraris . Thanks for the pics, I hope the other participants send you more pics because it looks like it was a great meet. the 3 458s look gorgeous.

Now that is what you are supposed to do. Beautiful weather, great location, and of course awesome cars. VERY NICE!

Could you tour the house? What about food service? Did you join up with other folks there for some spirited driving before/after the event?

Thanks for posting, Iain. But we gotta get you one of those compact video cameras so that we can all live vicariously at these events around the world, like William and Bluelines. I enjoy street driving vids much more than track.

    @ Crayphile - I see 2 crema interiors there.

Re: UK Ferrar Owners Club summer picnic

I was in an impromtu convoy for around a mile or two on the way in Tom with a rosso 250 SWB behind me a grigio titanio 575 behind him. I overtook an old chap earlier on in a nero 328 GTB on my way to the event.

The house was open to the public as normal and there was a restaurant onsite but we took a picnic and had it on the lawns in front of the house. I had a nice walk around part of the grounds which comprises a working farm on the estate. We were incredibly lucky with the weather today as it was sunny and a pleasant 24deg C. It was raining heavily all day yesterday and most of England is forecast to get hit by torrential rain later this evening.

I guess there were around 75-100 Ferraris there today. I was smitten by the little 246 Dino's as ever. Gorgeous cars.

Whilst moving my car around for the photographer a lovely old guy came over to me and asked if he could jump in the passenger seat of my 458 whilst I moved it around the lawn. Turns out he's been a Ferrari addict since 1953 but has never been able to afford his own but has been a member of the Ferrari Owners Club for years (non car owning members are allowed to join). He was bowled over by my car and we shared a few stories. He was telling me about his trips to see the grand prixs held at Silversone in the 1950's and how he got there by public bus. Great stuff.

    Iain,

Thank you for the pictures, looks like an enjoyable day.

I like your 458 combo best; wheels are beautiful. Also PEXS are looking very nice. Smiley

    Let's hope for more photos.

Do you regret selling your scuderia?

Are you planning to keep Cali?

    Thanks Iain, great day!

Re: UK Ferrar Owners Club summer picnic

    Pride,

I don't regret selling my Scud to be honest. I had it for nearly two years and thoroughly enjoyed it but I don't collect cars and like to try out new ones. Ferraris generally always improve with each new model and the 458 is big step forward from the 430 in many areas.

I've still got my Cali which I love as it's a completely different type of car to the 458.

Cali and 458 complement each other very well, then Smiley

Have I told you that I'm in love with your Cali's color combo Smiley

Should have let him take it for a spin.

I like the 3rd one the most, but the first pic could easily kill you from Ferrari OD.

Re: UK Ferrar Owners Club summer picnic

    such beautiful music

Re: UK Ferrar Owners Club summer picnic

I like the guy who runs his 458 without front license plate. there simply is no space for it at all anywhere. The other two look silly. And besides, IF you ever get pulled over, i'd pay the fine no problem over placing a silly plate on my 458 front.

great sound, thanks for the video.
