Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

Back in the days when I bought a beetle. We would all flash at each other and wave as we passed.

When I bought a TVR. The same seemed apparent (but not quite as excessive).

In the UK every motorcycle nods at every other motorcycle as they pass.

Today a fellow 911 driver flashed me. Which makes me wonder how friendly are we 911 drivers?

What do you do? Do you nod, flash or wave when you pass other 911 drivers?

    ...Add

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

    Most don't reciprocate however.

    Patriot

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

    Of course

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

    I don't even bother.

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

other 911 owners tend to smile back or wave.

boxsters are 50/50 whether I get a response or not.

given up on cayennes cause the women drivers just think you are trying it on with them.

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

In S. Calif. if every Porsche owner flashed and the other responded you would not have time to drive the car. Every minute would be spent flashing.

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

I always wave, or flash, and for me it's easy to pick out the true Porsche fans in my area as there are probably 5 within 20 miles. Most wave back in my area.

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

One thing is for sure you usually know each other are there. It's kind of hit and miss with the waves though.

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

I tried flashing once but by the time I stood up and opened my raincoat the other P-car was long gone. I wouldn't recommend it to be honest.

    LOL Thats hillarious

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

In the city I don't bother, everybody is too busy.

Further out where you are able to "enjoy" the drive more? Yes I do wave. I get about a 99% response rate. Like we're all PCA members or something.

If Ferrari owners attempted the same thing, we would see airtight garages all over the world light up..... and most pornstars and lawyers would be hard pressed for time to do their job...

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

I never see another Porsche drivers in Michigan. But, would flash/wave if I did.

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

over here there is too many 911's , would have to be flashing continuously .......

Now that's what I call humour!!

Did you hear about the flasher who wanted to retire - but decided to stick it out for another year.

If in Miami, you would spend your day with lights on! Easier

    Dime a dozen here....

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

911 owners are very polite, love their cars, and flash back. I am more amazed at the response of other people when I fill up at the gas station. I have owned lots of performance cars. When I had a corvette there were an a lot of corvette junkies out there I discovered. Boxster was neutral. My NSX seemed to be get a lot of attention as nobody had ever seen one (they only were selling about 200-300 a year in he US). I had three Ferraris and 2 328s and a real nice 355. The weird thing was people would ask me all the time what kind of frame did I put he kit car on with the Ferraris...really weird? Kit car??? This is a Ferrari! I bet the newer ones would finally impress the crowd. I had several 911s and the crowd seems to really love them. Among the older 911s, the 993 was a real crowd pleaser. It was yellow before people had a lot of yellow cars, so that may have been a factor. Now for the weirdest thing among people at gas stations. My wife has a Lexus SC430 that causes more attention then I can figure out. I thought it was just because she was driving it (cute blonde and all that), but when I drive it (do NOT tell her I drove it, she is crazy about me not touching HER car) the same thing happen. Young kids, guys, old ladies, sexy thing, everybody stops and say what a wonderful car...beats me is just a Lexus???? My M3 did not get much attention. All that said it is still impressive when I drive down the street in my new 997 C4S (red) the amount of people who wave and flash the latest version of a classic design is wonderful. Of course many of my friends simply smile and laugh as Dr Stork wastes his kids inheritance...again and again!!!! I gave the kids a great education, so thats all they will get asI plan to spend it all before I die.

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

I would acknowledge them, but they tend to go so fast that you never see them.

    Hi jonqui ,,

Does your pooch put his paw up though to acknowledge them ..

    throt..

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

I mostly wave at owners of older models 993, 964, they respon frequently.
996 and 997 drivers seem not to live up the "love" of the myth as much as other p-drivers...
    I presume rennteam-members make the difference;

Hello Dr. Stork - hope you've had a good day at the orifice! Dilated to meet you.

I had an SC430 and indeed it did draw more attention than my 997S does. I think the fact that in 18 months of ownership, I only ever saw two others on the road may have something to do with it.

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

in LA, they're a dime a dozen. few people actually care about em. so, unfortunately, no...

Re: Do you acknowledge other 911 owners?

When I first got the 997 I did when I passed any 911. After the first 5 not replying back I stopped and haven't had anyone flash me yet in 10 months. Got a thumbs up from a boxster driver once, but that is about it.
