    GT3 Spec help please

     Hi folks,

Got the call from my OPC yesterday, i need to provide the spec for my GT3.

I was thinking along the following lines, would welcome some feedback.

    White
    Headlamp cleaners painted
    PCCB
    Lift system
    Dynamic engine mounts
    90l fuel tank
    Club Sport
    Cruise Control
Lightweight bucket seats (i found the folding buckets to high)
    Alcantara sun visors
    b-pillar belt outlets painted
    PCM
    Sound system
    iPod
    Telephone

I cannot decide on the leather dash. It is an expensive option in the UK, and after driving a few cars without it i quite like the non leather as it gives a more motor sport look IMO !

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

Nice specs, but the leather dash and the alcantara bits that come with it really compliment the interior.

It's  a sports car not a cup car Smiley

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

I agree the leather dash is very nice and you get extra bits of alcantara too.

My car is due march 1st and have nearly ordered same spec as this except no pccb and i have ordered some carbon sills, centre console, red belts, leather dash .Also chose white.

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

Are the B-pillar outlets the only painted items in the interior? I would at least go for a painted center console in that case.

Regarding the full leather interior, the GT3 must be the only 911 that can be justified without it.

You must be really excited cdixon

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

Hi , just a couple of thoughts  - and these are IMHO -the final choice is always down to you!

The 90 litre fuel tank isn't available in the UK unfortunately.

I'm really not sure that the PCCB option is worth having as the new steel brakes on this car are amazing.

The leather/alcantara interior looks and feels much better than the plastic

Navigation - so many people in the UK seem to expect this in a £95000 car (even though a TomTom does everything you need). You may never use it but it will help when you sell the car

ps you're going to love it!

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

    Thanks for the help guys.

The spec is as above but i also went for the leather dash.

The price has become a little OTT but i have convinced myself that this car is a keeper !!!

    @easy

Yep can't wait for the big day mate. I also slipped the factory collection onto the list after reading your report :)

I'm sure you're right about Nav increasing the resale value, but I can't imagine that it would increase by the amount it will add to the cost of purchase.  Many GT3 buyers don't care about things like Nav (but I'm sure some do).

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

To be honest i have grown to love the new PCM3 in my Carrera, hence ticking that box again.

However, in a GT3 i have to agree, i doubt it makes any difference to the resale value

     Welcome back mate !

How you getting on with your Carrera ? How many water pumps have you been through ? I am on number 3 in 10k miles :) Weakness of these new DFI engines !!!

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

Many guys from the UK drive regularly to the Nurburgring Nordschleife and to other tracks around Europe (especially for track days), so having the PCM navigation system is very useful for those trips in unfamiliar places

I would tick that option every time Smiley

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

PCM is important but less so on a clubsport.  I have it on mine and I have to say it is miles better than the previous stuff.  I would say though that I would spec it above leather if I had to choose between the 2.

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

Full leather is really up to you. If cost is a consideration, leave it out. If then the choice is between leather and something else Porsche... I would spend the money on a course at the Porsche Driving School.

Agree with the PCM choice. I too really like the new version and IMO, its worth getting.

The PCCB's... hmmm This is a really personal opinion and folks may disagree but due to earlier PCCB issues on my GT3 I decided to wait for the next generation ceramics before getting them. Of course the justification is also dependant on what type of driving you aim to use the GT3 for.

Are you going to track the car a fair bit or is it going to be a daily driver?

Reason I ask is that it may be worth replacing the cup tyres from the outset (keep them for the odd track day) with PS2's or similar. They are better in the wet and longer lasting. I'm not sure how this works with factory collection.

On another note, by telephone you mean the bluetooth option and not the fitted handset right?

BTW, I flew into London yesterday (here for a few days) and noticed just how bad and potholed the roads have become. I'd def think about wheel insurance and also order an extra lip as its going to break.

Main thing, CONGRATS! you're going to love the GT3! When do you get it? I'm away from home for a week or so and am already missing my GT3.

Savour the wait as it'll be worth it.

Hi Chris, one water pump and currently at Bristol for new air filter that required new manifold too.

No complaints though I love the car and drive it most days.  The GT3 sounds great, I passed on my LOI as I gave up my cushy corporate job to work for myself a year or so back and have pumped every penny into the business - I'll be done inside 3 years though so will celebrate with a 991.

Let me know when it arrives and we'll get that beer!

How do you deal with the seat belt warning display when using the harnesses?  Do you just ignore the display or is there some way of shutting it off?  (Put dummy buckles in the OEM belt latches maybe?)

The easiest solution is to pull the lap/shoulder belt's buckle round the back of the seat and push it into the latch.

It' s easy, reliable, and requires no additional parts.

    Re: GT3 Spec help please

i dont like the leather dash on the GT3, especially when its a clubsport. leather and race car down go along in my opinion... a 997 Cup has a even cheaper looking dash and everytime i see it i love it! its a must in the turbo and carrera but the GT3 def doesnt need it! ;)

PCCB definately sth to consider. the break feel is awesome but the maintenance can be insane! the new steel are said to be amazing!

i love the panted cleaners, have that option too! the only "exclusive" option on my car...
