auto motor und sport-pictures from todays issue:
    what a beauty!!!

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

I am looking at same pics in AMS and saying to myself what a awsome car...

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

is there any new info in the mag

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

About 599GTB? No, all the things that we allready know...

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

this car is perfect from all angles!

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

I'm assuming they'll have a special US rear bumper. Our license plates would not fit with that Euro style bumper.

Euro license plates are way better. US plates are tacky and fat.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

Check out the April copy of EVO magazine - loads of pictures on the road

    Still don't like it

Also in EVO they have the Zonda F Roadster in unpainted Carbon Fibre - now that does look good

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

The more I see the 599GTB, the more it reminds me of the 250GT SWB, one of my all time favorite Ferraris

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

yep, they clearly get the good inspiration from that one !
I wans't sure about the 612 even after seeing it in real but the 599 GTB is absolutely stunning

    Now that is UGLY.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

I have to agree... I think the Zonda is kinda well...... fugly.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

No no no! Zonda is the only real supercar left IMO..

If you see a supercar on the road it should be like nothing else!!!

Stunning looks, huge engine, lightweight body! Fantastic car, much nicer than equivilant from Ferrari, Porsche and Lambo

The Pagani Zonda is the most original, outrageous and best built supercar out there! I agree the Zonda is the only true supercar left, all other "sportscars" are just mere compromises. Even the great Gordon Murray ( designer of the F1 ) had nothing but praise for the Zonda saying that it's the only true lightweight modern supercar. The Pagani Zonda F makes the Porsche CGT and the Ferrari look like overweight production cars.

Weight of Porsche CGT : 3043 lbs
Weight of Ferrari Enzo : 3020 lbs
Weight of Pagani Zonda F : 2712 lbs.

    Well said that man!

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

That carbon work is incredible... probably the best in the business. But I simply can't accept that back end... I really don't like it

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

Makes the Murcielago Roadster look ordinary and it's not even the new F version.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

The Pagani is simply great. A real piece of art.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

True italian craftsmanship! Italy at its best!
I love Ferrari but Zonda elevates the automobile to a piece of art IMHO.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

I agree that the workmanship is top notch but the styling just doesn't float my cork. I guess I'm more into subtle design. I know that I am in the minority on this.

You nuts if you think the Zonda weighs what they claim. It has a massive V12 that's been outsourced to AMG. The last time a supercar had its drivetrain outsourced was the F1.

I suppose Horacio Pagani and Gordon Murray have something in common.

Until Pagani developes their own engine, it will be considered an also-ran in the market place. And eventually go by the wayside just like Murray's F1.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

At what point did the f1 go by the wayside???? The F1 is still the car to be benchmarked against, even after the veyron which is very fast but not a sportscar in the same way as the F1.

I dont think that outsourcing an engine does any harm to pagani. In fact I think the partnership works very well. AMG build stunning engines, the only problem is that they are usually in fat mercs!!! AMG's powerful engines work perfectly with Paganis designs...

They only made 80 F1s...not exactly a success. In terms of performance; the F1 doesn't have the handling to match its power. High speed stability is abysmal. When Road and Track did a high speed test with Mario Andretti driving, he said something to the effect: This is the scariest car to drive above 180mph.

For now, it has proven to be a relatively small success. But, if they were to be regarded in the upper echelon of high performance cars, they will need their own drive train.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

The reason the Zonda has the Mercedes engine is because the great Juan Manuel Fangio said it had to be powered by Mercedes. Sadly he passed away before the car was finished.

that's an ignorant and tired argument.
the future will hold more outsourcing of major components, not less. you might as well give up your interest in cars now.
and you just posted that you were OK with ferrari using outsourced suspension technology.

the zonda is unique in design and finish. those qualities alone make it a desirable car.

Re: 599 GTB: new pics from the open road!

    NICE PICS

When an established company like Ferrari outsource their powertrain is when they stop being Ferrari. And Enzo will be rolling in his grave.

I understand a litte upstart like Pagani have no choice, but, to outsource - nevertheless, they will eventually have to develope more of their own parts. There isn't going to enough interested buyers willing to pay upwards of $600k for a Frankenstein.

And I understand your infatuation with the Z, but, you gotta look at the big picture.
