    Difference between TC and PSM

TC is a one-dimensional system that simply cuts fuel or applies brakes to the rear axle to prevent the rear wheels from spinning faster than the front wheels.

PSM is a highly developed stability program that can brake each of the 4 wheels independently in order to prevent the car from yawing (spinning) and allows a much higher degree of stability and safety than TC. TC does nothing under braking or neutral throttle conditions, but PSM is always working...

Re: Difference between TC and PSM

So I guess in the new GT3 you can disable the TC?

    Correct, like the CGT.

Re: Difference between TC and PSM

In this case it will be still a tough time driving the GT3, but the learning curve will be still steep!

The TC on the GT3 will incorporate some basic PSM functions for added safety but it is not comparable to a "true" PSM system I'm afraid. Apparently Porsche was afraid that some potential GT3 customers may refuse buying a car with PSM, no matter if the PSM was a PSM race version and could be turned off completely. You know how it works in this business: "PSM? Oh gosh...this is no race car, this is a softie...I don't buy this thing...never...bla bla bla". So no PSM for the GT3. Sad.

RC - I'm sure that is part of the reason, but I also think there were engineering problems that prevented a full-PSM system to work with a serious LSD. I think the only real solution will be to have an LSD that is electronically controlled and connected to PSM (maybe on the next version 911).

Don't underestimate Porsche engineering. But yes, you may be right that there were other concerns too. But Porsche did a very clever thing...adding some basic PSM functions and naming it TC...clever move.

Re: Difference between TC and PSM

The engineers are learning from the marketing department
