    Bleeding typical Porsche!!!

I've got to put my hands up and admit I was perhaps a bit hasty in dismissing the looks of the 997 TT general looks re the front end treatment - which may turn out to be not too bad once viewed in real life.

After recent shots in Car and Evo magazine, the wheels does now suit the car to a tee. The dark gun metal grey with SY looks really nice and one wonders what RC's batmobile in solid black paintwork and wheels will look like. The finish of the wheels reminds me of my old E46 M3 and does add a bit of agression to the overall look. RC's new car is going to look wicked. Black is definately the colour as it hides some of the details for those who find the front not to their liking.

Hats off to Porsche for once again putting out a design which may not agree with you first time but you kinda warm to it after several viewings. Porsche likes to do things their own way but it works.

BMW do something similiar but after 30 months of Bangle designs - the cars still look $hit

    Re: Bleeding typical Porsche!!!

Many people have been whining about the new front. When I saw pcitures of the 997TT for the first time I had mixed emotions, especially about the fog lights and the led lights. It wasn't like I though the front was ulgy but it was just that I wasn't used to seeing a Porsche with such a "busy" front.

Eventually after have glansed at pictures of the car for several days I had finally accepted the new front and now I like it. though I have to say that the car does look best in dark colour.

Glad to hear you are coming around to the 997TT overall looks, while we all can quibble with individual items here and there, the car will look cool in vivo .

I still don't care for those rims, these are nothing "different" (except to Porsche), rather they are a trendy design (2- and 3-spoke styles) with alot of sporty cars, including Euro, American, and ricer models. I still would like to see a more understated, conservative, solid style rim, hopefully as a factory option.

And of course, within two weeks, we'll really have some info. to pore over....

    Re: Bleeding typical Porsche!!!

im just glad they did the front of the TT completely different than the C4/S to distinguish itself apart from them. Unlike the 996TT and 996C4S.

this is long overdue for the 997 and I was almost sure they were saving it for the Turbo .............. one thing is for sure a wheel like this should be in the works if it is not already . Not having a wheel like this is why aftermarket wheels are so popular with the 997 becuase Porsche has really not come out wit the must have beautiful solid style rim factory rim and the wheels can make the look of the car . Now with the Turbo it is badly needed .

    Re: Bleeding typical Porsche!!!

    I'd say: TurboTwist 3!
    -Joost-

    Re: Bleeding typical Porsche!!!

I used to love the Turbo twists, now when I see them, I feel they look horribly dated and bulky. The Carerra Classics are the best for the 997 model, simple, elegant and Sporty.

    Re: Bleeding typical Porsche!!!

    regarding the wheels-
are these cheaper for porsche than the hollowspoke ones used in the past? I really hope this is not to save money!

Me thinks it's simply to follow the trend, this 2- and 3-hollowspoke style is found on tons of sports cars.

    Re: Bleeding typical Porsche!!!

I think the new Turbo wheels look similar to the M6. But they still look amazing on the Turbo and aspecialy if the car is in a dark colour, gives it a very Darth Vadar look like 996 Gt2, now think of a Black 996 GT2 with those wheels. Mad I hope they offer the Sport Techno and previous Turbo wheels as options, they probabely wont as they will have to re-design the wheels into the 19' size and then sell them at some astronomical price.

I think many people wont take to the new Turbo look and will want somthing more conservative, but the vast majority and potential customers wanted somthing more in your face and distingushing from the rest of the range.

Except that the non-996 TT wheels are not genuine hollow-spoke.
