    Explain this.....CL65 vs new Z06 video

    Now I know the Cl65 is not exactly stock, so who knows how much power its pumping out and we all know by the specs of the Z06 that it is a VERY potent car but after watching the two I expected more......


    Now I won't say from who...you have to see the video.


    Suffice to say, Jim knows where I stand with regards to American cars.

    Come on guys yes the Z06 is fast but it's not all about speed, it's not just quantity by quality also, it's not how fast it goes but how it goes also. There is a reason why Corvette Z06 cost $75K. It's a fun car to have but no offense a piece of junk all together.

    I wouldnt totally call it a piece of Junk. It has the performance, its a sports car not a luxury GT. If you want the same speed and a prissy swish interior, shop elsewhere and pay double or even triple the price.

    CL65 612bhp 2100kg 291bhp per ton

    Z06 0-62mph 3.9 secs 0-100mph 7.7 secs thats really quick if its totally correct and it's supposed to go round the ring amazingly quick (Chevy PR dept ? )

    Guy in the CL does really well, but then to get the best out the Vette you need to a "real" man , be married to your cousin and called Bubba or something

    Only kidding I quite like them stunning performance for the money but wish they'd sort out the interior.

    Dude they spent the money on the mechanical bits.

    If you are obsessed about a interior, drive it to Tijhuana and bedeck its cockpit with all of the german perforated leather, alcantara and lambswool carpeting that you want.

    What I find so funny about the whole Z06 vs 911/MB debates is the fact that they even exist.

    We are talking about two entirely different entities. The z06 is a bare sports car. It should be compared to the GT3 not the Carerra. Price is not the issue, direction is.

    This car is directed towards performance advocates. Just as the GT3 is for Porsche buyers.

    I want to see the 997 GT3's performance figures compared to the z06. That would be interesting, not the 997s etc...

    After reading your comments I expected the Z06 to massively outaccelerate the MB.

    Are you kidding me to seriously comment on those issue? The Benz has a five-speed automatic and more than 1k lbs. more weight, apart from the higher drag coefficient and it's still faster?

    BluCamSS, I do understand gearing and power to weight, but it is fallacy to just interrogate these variables when there is a whole lot more that defines a car's performance. The Z06 has claimed fogures of sub-4 second 0-60mph times, 0-100mph times comparable more directly to the SLR/CGT, yet the CL65 which is slightly more better than an SL600 is putting up a good fight and eventually overtakes it.

    A car with a 6speed with a very high final drive due to a 7K~rpm revving 500bhp V8 and less than 1.5ton weight should obliterate the 5-speed 2.2 ton Mercedes leviathan, but it doesn't, it merely "hangs" with it.....doesn't convince me at all, sorry.

    What's more is the Mercedes torque plateau starts dropping substantially after 4800rpm, but regardless, the Z06 is overcome. The 65 cars are ludicrously potent above 100mph

    I think GM claims quite a lot regarding the C06 and the Z06 (acceleration, NBR time) and holds little. Reminds me of some Italian car manufacturers.
