    New pics of 997 Turbo

    http://www.pistonheads.com/porsche/default.asp?storyId=12716

    From Pistonheads website.
It would appear to be the same grey car as the other spy shots but from different more unusual angles.
    Apologies in advance if repost.

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

The holy question is: why the hell doesn't one of these photographers take a picture of the interior???

Bc it's exactly the same as a Carrera?
Or it would appear that this is a testing outting with several Turbos, so maybe there's some huge nasty german dude that kicks your arse by the time you've only taken three shots?
Or it could also be that these photographers are not very clever.

Because a guy from Porsche is standing next to the photographer approving what he can do and not.

You havent understood yet that Porsche thinks ONLY HOW TO MAKE MORE MONEY...
The photographer works for Porsche. so Porsche sells the first pictures of 997 Turbo to magazines to make more money...

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

Good to see these new angles. The main thing is that the fog lights look nowhere near as bad as they did in the previous angles.

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

    wow! great pics thanks!!

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

    Again vcery nice!!!
I'm glad to see the grey Turbo doesn't have a rear wiper, like all Turbo's used to have, it's much better without!

    Shame on you!

Porsche was the first company to offer a rear wiper on a sports car and also the only cars to have them for a long time.

The ultimate Porsche rear wipers were on the 928s and 930's.

No rear wiper on a Turbo is a sad thing. Besides, who wants to brush off snow when you can just get into the car and press a button!

If this is a new trend, Porsche management must be spending more time being chauffered then driving themselves.

    Good observation Porker.
It was standard option on the 996 Turbo but you could delete it for no cost, which is an excellent thing considering it's rather ugly and not even practical (It doesn't come with a spray washer ).

    Jim,
For snowy days, just use those weirds things sticking out of the car on each side. They're not ears, they actually have little mirrors so you can see what goes on behind you, not that you'd need that behind the wheel of the Porsche!

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

Fanch, I completely forgot about those outside mirror things.

I suffer from right foot syndrome.

Because there's something inside that Porsche doesn't want us to see yet?
The absence of anything new could also be that 'something'

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

this week is great with all these pics!!

I don't think so. First, interior pics are harder to take, second, the interior won't differ much (if at all) from the 997 interior.

I already see you running to your dealer to change your order when the official press release is out.

Fog lights look better integrated for sure than in the first pic last week. Those wheels are BODACIOUS ! in a good way. The seal grey car in background looks sweet, I think the darker metallics will work best.

The pictures do look staged. The car looks way too clean for something that has just been dashing through the snow (like a one-horse open sleigh).

Having said that, it looks beautiful. I hated the first pictures (the front mostly) but now I am warming up to it.

Some reports seem to indicate that the engine will be 3.6 liter rather than 3.8. Can this be true? Isn't this old technology?

The engine can be even a 4.0 l. Since we don't have any details about the also possible direct injection yet, this leaves a lot of room for speculation. One thing is for sure: the VTG technology is coming in the 997 Turbo. This also suggests that direct fuel injection is coming, it would make a lot of sense. Adding direct fuel injection to the already known VTG technology could indicate a completely revised and rebuilt (from scratch) engine based of course on the "old" technical design. That said, I think there is a lot of speculation left for how much power the 997 Turbo will finally have. If Porsche is clever, the power figure starts with a 5. If not, it may be in the 480-490 HP range. Everything below 480 HP would be marketing suicide, they know that.

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

Guys, this silver car (plate "LB VV143") is the same one as the one in the other pics, but if you look at its ride height now, its much higher in these last pics, its equal to the black 997TT now!... whats up with that? are we seeing a height adjustable suspension here??

    Before

    After

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

Well that seals the deal. Looks great to me.

I shall get one for sure!

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

Article says weight is up to 3,520 lbs. What was official weight of last model?

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

The beast is looking better and better! Awesome!

    Those must be 20's.

Re: New pics of 997 Turbo

    3505 lbs.
