    X51

Is it true that the X51 kit comes with sports exhaust? Anything else it includes?

    Re: X51

Yes, and 3rd (center) radiator. Other details include carbon fiber airbox, different intake manifold and headers.

    Re: X51

As shown in the picture :

    Re: X51

And more fun than a barrel of monkeys

    Re: X51

Has anybody on the forum done a review, or have experience having driven the 997S AND 997S w/X51? I had initially figured I wouldn't be ordering it because of the cost vs. number of HP gained.. is there a 'kick in the pants' difference?

    Re: X51

It Includes a A Kick Ass F'ing Car!!!

    Re: X51

    aerosmith drives a 997s x51.
    I am expecting mine...

    Yes--my X51 Club Coupe is a Tip.

    Re: X51

That link doesn't contain a comparison of the driving experience between normal C2S and C2S with X51. Are there any?

    Re: X51

When you mention 3rd radiator, is that in the center slot below the bumper (where non-tiptronics have a black plastic cover)?

    Re: X51

Wish I could help....Have a December X51 build and probably will have a lot to say once it arrives. The standard S is a fun ride and I expect the X51 to be even more fun

    Correct.

    Re: X51

Here's a picture of the third, central, radiator.

    Re: X51

Thanks for the pic Aerosmith! It looks so much better than the black plastic cover.

So all X51s w/ or w/o tiptronic have the extra radiator? I'm assuming it is an engine coolant radiator (as opposed to oil, trans, etc.).

Thanks again. Mine is supposed to be a December build.

    Re: X51

    Engine coolant, AFIK.

    Re: X51

I wished I had the X51 on my 997S. Nevertheless I think $14000+ is not worth the package. You can get the Evo Stage I for $1760.00 with 22 additional h.p. and 18 TQ, that puts the 997S at 377h.p. It may not be the X51 but I bet the X51 could not beat it easily. Don't get me wrong if I had money to burn I would buy the X51. But thinking about $14000+ , why not spend a little more and get the GT3. To those gents buying the X51, more power to you, go for it, I am not being critical I just feel akward to blow so much to gain a little. And yes every little but helps.

    Re: X51

Guys, do you know why the Club Coupe doesn't have the 3rd radiator (at least in the pics I've seen) even though they have the X51?

    Re: X51

The Club Coupe does have a third radiator.

Nothing wrong with your line of thinking. I have the X51 on order and I agree that it is expensive. A GT3 may be a consideration at this price point but my car will be my daily driver so the X51 wins out. You can correct me if I am wrong, but a set of Fiske or HRE rims with tires can set you back 10K or more....upgrade your stereo and in some cases you will be knockig on 10K. So as you may have guessed, I will enjoy the Bose and standard issue lobster claws on my new S. Some sacrifices are in order but to me the X51 is worth the extra $$$

    Re: X51

Aerosmith, you're right. This picture threw me off:

Let's see, the X51 gets you an enlarged PORSCHE factory carbon fiber air box with two (not one) intake snorkels, optimized PORSCHE factory aluminum intake manifolds, modified PORSCHE factory valve heads, revised PORSCHE exhaust manifolds with larger bores and an ECU reprogrammed by PORSCHE. This is not to mention the PSE which is included in the US$16,900 price tag. And while PORSCHE claims 381 HP, reoports indicate that all of their X51 test cars have been dynoing out at 400+ horsepower. The X51 is the real deal and it is 100% factory PORSCHE.

Sure you can save money and void your warranty but why not buy PORSCHE for your PORSCHE? And sure you can get a 997 GT3 (someday) but it won't be nearly as drivable day in and day out on real life roads (and yes I drive my car every day in all conditions).

Having driven an S without it I know with certainty that the X51 is worth every penny. It turns the Carrera S into a total beast.

    Re: X51

AeroSmith, I'm sure you're correct but shouldn't the performance/specs of the X51 have been standard on the 997S from the start?

    Probably.

And I wonder, in a year or two, when Carrera S sales begin to slow if it doesn't become standard on the car. That might help boost sales prior to the launch of the next variant. For now I'm sure it's a way for PORSCHE to make more money and sell cars at a wider array of price points. It makes good business sense form their standpoint.

    AMEN

    Re: X51

Is there no X51 option for the C4S????

I reviewed the order guide recently and did not see it anywhere.

    Re: X51

I suppose so, there is no difference between the two cars with exception of the obvious thigs, 4 wheel drive, wider body but Same engine. My 05 C4S had the X51.

    Re: X51

It's on the configurator, but not in the October order guides.

It IS available on the C4S. Your dealer's PCNA computer should accept it.
