Is going into production as a 2008 model.
It will be shown at the Detroit Auto Show this January.
Basically its a supercharged version of the 505hp Z06,
wich already has a 0-100mph time of 8 seconds and a
top speed of 198mph.

Great news for enthusiasts! I was hoping they would build it.
Where did you get your info from Jim (or is it a secret source)?
Any guess on pricing?

650hp and $90-100K would be incredible! It would be impressive at any price.
Not so long ago, a factory stock 650hp car was unheard of.
Do you guys think Porsche will react to this at all? Maybe with a more extreme GT2?

My (somewhat informed) guess is between $90-100k - about the same as a well-optioned 997S...
I also expect carbon brakes and more liberal use of carbon-fibre body panels.
There is also talk that the "regular" Z06 will receive variable valve timing and 550hp, while the base C6 gets 6.2L, variable valve timing and 450hp - all around 2008.

I wouldn't be suprised if they didn't. They're to concerned about themselves. As far as they're concerned, their biggest competitor is themselves

Damien, my "secret source" remains a secret, lol.
Grant, GM has made variable valve timing work with OHV engine designs. I think you will see it on many of the V6's
and V8s. But I dont know if it will be used one the Z06.
FWIW,I do know they are playing with a DOHC 7.5 Liter V8. What it might go into, if at all, is only a guess. But you know, Lutz is a car guy, and hes old enough to recall when Corvette almost went to a mid engine layout, maybe someone thinks its time for Corvette to think in a new direction for the C7.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't either.
