    Ferrari Dino V6???!

I'm sure this has been talked about but if not check out this article. It talks of a light weight v6, 380-400hp dino and then the other one, project california one that was talked about already and in autocar.

    Re: Ferrari Dino V6???!

I'm not surprised by that. The original Dino had a v6. Actually, at the start of it's production, they didn't even put Ferrari logos on it, the put little "Dino" emblems on it instead. Seems as though at first they didn't want their brand to be looked at as a company that makes V6's.

That wasn't the reason considering they won F1 Championships with V6's AND I4's.

I never thought about that before. Maybe it was a tribute to Enzo's deceased son, Dino, who I think wanted to produce a smaller displacement car.
I had always thought that they didn't put the Ferrari logo on it because they were a little worried about the image a non-12 cylinder road car might give them. Weren't all Ferrari road cars up until that point V12s?

    Re: Ferrari Dino V6???!

    Thanks for the links dsts6!
I don't think the new Dino will get a v6.Ferrai may use the detuned Maserati 390 bhp v8 or use the old 360 v8 block. Building a new v6 or cut away two cylinders from a v8 block would be very expensive.

I think the v6 from the original Dino has been designed by Dino Ferrari himself(Enzo's son)and had a very successfull rally carreer with the Lancia Stratos.

    Nope many others besides V12's.

    Re: Ferrari Dino V6???!

Does anyone have an idea when one could put down a deposit for a guaranteed spot in the waiting list for this car. I mean does it have to be announced first or could I do it with a dealer before its come ture. And do you guys think it will be mid or front engine. I hope mid.

Could you name a few? I always thought the 6 and 4 cylinder cars were more racing machines than true road cars.

    Re: Ferrari Dino V6???!

Getting old is finally starting to pay off. I remember Enzo being quoted as saying, "A Ferrari is a 12 cylinder car." None of the Dino's had the name Ferrari until the 308GT4 which was ordered for marketing reasons by the company's then new 80% owner, FIAT.

I thought Enzo Ferrari had made a comment like that, but wasn't sure.

    Re: Ferrari Dino V6???!

I still don't belive this "baby ferrari" thing... if they were to make one, where would that leave Maserati?

And honestly, I HOPE this NEVER happens. Since when has a ferrari been affordable? Just take porsche as an example: I see so many porsches that they're hardly special, and in the case of the Cayenne, I've seen more women driving them than men!

The 1974 V8 308GT4s were also badged " Dino" on the exterior .
I don't recall there being Ferrari badges on this model as they came from the factory .
The 1975/76 308 GTB was the first non 12 cyl of the " modern era ." i.e., volume production/FIAT control externally badged Ferrari.
