want to install PSE...

hi guys,

so i bought a second hand 997s(my new 997s was stolen)untill the 997tt shows up...

the only thing i really want to install is the PSE so i email porsche in stuttgart to have it retrofitted there,and also asked them for a factory tour.they arranged for the 18th of october for the PSE and the factory tour.i am really looking forward to this trip.i will post some pics of the tour.
ant suggestions to the driving route from milan to stuttgart?

p.s retrofit will cost 2300 euros.is this ok?(not that i really care...just to know)

Hi Sertag,
I got my PSE retrofitted in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, too. The parts costed 1746,69 Euro incl. 16% VAT. That includes about 50 Euro for the console part with the additional PSE switch (I don't have Sport Chrono). Labor was for free in my case. My PSE order was canceled back in April but the dealer agreed to cover the labor costs of the PSE retrofit. According to other PSE threads installation takes 330TU-440TU (3.3-4.4 hours depending on whether you need the switch). They charge 79 Euro/h + VAT. So, labor should be around 300-400 Euro. If the 2300 Euro they quoted you include the factory tour it's ok, otherwise it's slightly too high.
BTW, I will be at the Porsche Center in Zuffenhausen twice on that day to get some further problems fixed. I will look out there for a 997S with Italian plates

are you happy with the job they did?cause the guy i talked to said he couldn't make me any disounts since i didn't buy the car from them.i guess you did

also my car has sport chrono so i don't need any further switches added in the console.
any way i will have cofirmation by email tomorrow for the retrofit and if everything is ok i'll be there on the 18th...

yes, I'm happy with the install now. Right after installation I was a bit disappointed with the sound. I expected it to be much louder. Actually, I had to turn the PCM off to be able to here a difference in idle. Porsche should have added 'PSE conflicts with audio/BOSE' in their brochure

. I've done 1200km with PSE now and either the sound has improved or my ears have accommodated to it

. As other rennteamers have stated before PSE is very throttle and revs dependent. Full throttle and revs over 4000 1/min lead to a very aggressive growl. Downshifting at low speeds when rolling to a light gives a sound like backfire. I love it

. PSE is the best option to get, even if I still don't like the different diameter chrome-plated tips. I'm glad that I insisted on the PSE when my order was canceled. And yes, I bought the car in Zuffenhausen.
When you are coming try to avoid the A8 and A81 in the Stuttgart area at rush hours. There is a lot of road construction going on there leading to traffic jams every day.
