    Whisle Sound coming from driver side mirror

    I have a whisling sound coming from driver side mirror at speeds above 60 mph.. Has anyone noticed this on their 997's.

    I noticed that also. I guess the new mirror design has one little flaw. Since mine is a cab I hear it all the time at speeds above 50 or so.

    I have a 997S Cab and the whistling sound from the drivers mirror is constant above 50 - 55 all the way to 80-85. It is pretty loud. I sat in the passenger seat and the right side mirror is completely silent. Why would it be different if mirrors appear completely symetrical??? Has anyone talked to a dealer yet?

    Always drive with the windows down and have not heard any whistle noise from my side mirrors. On the other hand, the PSE is pretty loud and tend to drown all other noise around you

    Weird. No whistle here.
    One thing I did notice is how much louder the PSE is when the top is down. Last Friday was the first day after driving the car for a week and 600 miles that I drove with the top up. Even with the windows down the PSE is much louder with the top down.

    The whistle hasn't disappeared for me.Tomorrow i will call my dealer...this noise is annoying

    If you look under the side mirrors there is a small screw hole. Try placing a little tape over it and see if that stops the whistling....

    I am hoping you can help as I cannot get any answers to this problem in the UK. The drivers side wing mirror whistles when driving above 50mph. Several people around the world have noticed this problem - I attach 2 different forums where Porsche owners have discussed this issue.

    This is whatcha do. (sorry if this has been figured out elsewhere, no time to study situation)

    Get masking tape. place it as close as possible to crack, along both sides without covering crack. get some BLACK silicone sealant. Put it into crack, smooth with fingers, clean excess off tape, remove tape. Should be perfect. Silicone will EASILY dis-adhere when disassembly is required.

    Hi - I actually taped up the entire seam and it made no the difference. The only way I could stop the whistling was to tape up the entire hole between the mirror and the door so it seems like the whistle is caused from the entire hole not from the seams.
    Anyone other ideas?

    Create turbulence in there. Perhaps it's too slick so laminar flow is enough to cause whistling. Perhaps you did too good a job of waxing in there? Remove the wax with alcohol. Remove wax from entire mirror casing? Try putting a slightly wrinkled piece of masking tape on upper surface of hole (can't be seen there?) to create turbulence. Also are you sure your mirror is aligned in it's fullest extension correctly? You can find in the manual ways to fold mirror. Perhaps this needs to be reset? Crazy problem, huh?

    And why would some cars have it and not others ?

    997 S Cab - 3000 miles and no whistle.
